We get $16.75 for a 3/4 carbide end mill complete including flute rake and $18.50 for a 1" ground the same way. No extra charge for the cut off. Ball is extra if it starts out square. Otherwise, it's...
I have to agree with Chad on this one. There should be absolutely no problem with undersize tooling. Just comp it and away you go. Unless the customers specifically requests that we just cut off the...
I own a toolgrinding shop and we too use Walter CNC toolgrinders. I'm wondering what you mean keywaying an end mill. Sorry, but I have just never heard that term.

Just one note to add...Resin bond wheels are great wheels for carbide and steel. Just remember that they are not meant for 'off hand' grinding. The wheels need to be smooth and true. Hand grinding...
I use MObilgear 627 or Mobil Vactra 2. I like the Mobilgear better for the grinding machines. Engine oil is NOT a good way lube. I has too much parifin in it. It leaves deposits.
I agree about the price from Kennametal. Doesn't sound like they want to help much, eh? I don't have time to run back thru the thread so I'll try to respond to what I can remeber.
We get $11 usd...
Sounds like we are running about the same things. You don't use pkg 4? I've had 2 years on them too. Maybe we can help each other out with any problems.

If no one has one to take a picture of, I could grind one up and post a pic after the holiday, if someone will kick a reminder to me by posting it here. Don't have the time to mess with it right now...
The single lip cutter is a good way to go. I have one company that likes using 1/16" 2fl ball mills, but I don't think they are engraving as small as you are. They are doing it on a Haas Machining...
The machine we use most is a Power R. It is a very good machine, also. Is your 'R' machine windows or DOS driven? I would like to hear more about your machines.
HuFlungDung pretty much has it nailed with that last post I think. A little more info from you James may make it easier for us to help out.
What size drill are you using and at what RPM's are you...
Both of those sharpeners will do quite a nice job with a little practice. I thiink both are worth the money in a small or home shop.
The star dressers work quite well for trueing a bench wheel. A little trick I've learned to make it work just a bit better is to hold the dresser with the handle still in line with the wheel, but...
Some customers have been getting good results with the Drill Doctor. Others not so good. Most of my customers just throw away anything under 1/4".
Your rake is built into the drill, so you really...
The problem with going with that much rake is that as you grind the end back, you end up losing your center. Thus, it's no longer center cutting. I dont think that there's a need to over do it. 7 -...
You make a good point. I don't have a good answer for you on that one. They normally gash a ball with some rake. I don't know why they are still grinding the end rake at zero. To be honest with you...
That's exactly what I was saying Lenny. Most guys like yourself that are into machining can make more money by sticking to what they know best and letting someone that is set up for it do all the...
It's a little more complicated than that, but I'll try. There are several different ways to sharpen one manually. A tool and cutter grinder works best. You can use a 1A1 wheel or some use an 11V9 cup...
A thread mill is a fluted round tool used to interpolate a thread in a part instead of using a tap. Usually carbide.
Any of you having trouble with the end mills you're getting back from your grinder. Maybe I can help you to explain to him what the problem is. Or what it is that you want the tool to do that is out...
Looking for people running these grinders to swap ideas and/or solve problems. Software or hardware issues. Machine issues. Anything related to these grinders.
We're seriously considering making thread mills. Has anyone out there done this? We are doing all of our grinding on a Walter Power-R.
Thanks Paul!
Thanks Paul!
I've been using BobCad 15 (I know I'm behind) for a few years now for programming my 2-axis EDM. It works great for that. Very simple.
Would there be any interest in a forum dedicated to toolgrinding and toolgrinding machines? I've been a toolgrinder for nearly 20 years and would be happy to share information. I always have...
