Re: CNC Parallel Port to USB

    @ asuratman,
As far as I know, there are no kits, so you need some knowledge of electronics.
You have to load GRBL in the Arduino and I used UGS (Universal G-code Sender) but there are more...

Re: CNC Parallel Port to USB

you can make an PCB with an arduino nano and a parallel port output, then you can use the usb port.
using GRBL as software. Just plug in the nano with parallel port on your existing machine. I have...

    Re: arduino nano to BOB

about the BOB, this is a standard Chinese BOB. I did not make any changes. I just collected some drawings from the internet and made a drawing in KiCad.

@hfjbuis: I made the print on the diy...

    Re: arduino nano to BOB

@ hfjbuis, checked the pins you mentioned. My drawing was wrong, changed it. It is all working.
5V powersupply BOB is done by the USB voltage.

    Re: arduino nano to BOB

    thank you for your remarks.
As far as I know I do not have output pins connected together.
I arranged the pins for the steppers in such a way that one side of the nano is on the topside and the...

    arduino nano to BOB

I have made a pcb with DB25 connector for BOB and a print for stopping starting spindle. Software used GRBL1.1 and UGCS

this is how the nano is connected

    Re: Another spindle question

I am using a 230V vfd and 230V 800W spindle, vfd set at 3.5 Amps. For 110V you need a 110V vfd and 110V / 800W spindle because the current is double 7 Amps. The coils of the spindle has to be wired...

    Re: Another spindle question

I do not see any problem. I have a 800W spindle , water cooled, with a 1.5 kW vfd connected to 230Vac single phase, no problem. I am cutting the material you mentioned. So with the vfd set at 7 amps...

    Re: Another spindle question

As far as I know these spindles can handle max 7 Amps. So as you stated max power is approx 800 Watt at 110V input. That is all you can get from this 1.5 kW vfd at 110V

    Re: 500w chinese spindle interference

Ah, now I see your problem. The connection is not there, it is only drawn to show that the connection must be inside, due to the measurements. You do not have to make this connection. You are right...

    Re: 500w chinese spindle interference

I have measured the volts. So between + 80V and the brown wire is measured 0 V and between the orange wire and +80V is measured 83.4 V

    Re: 500w chinese spindle interference

    @ddlawrence
I have not done any job with this spindle. With the potmeter, rpm adjustment is OK . A problem is the rpm adjustment with 0-10V (is not a big problem) . This is a spindle with carbon...

    Re: 500w chinese spindle interference

I have done some measurements on the spindle pwm supply.
measurements are done with a cheap multimeter.
Relay is the start / stop of the spindle.
The potm. is internal connected with the +...
