i spent a hour on the phone with cnc software tech support over this trying all sorts of registry edits and workarounds. finally they suggested removing mastercam and reinstalling it. that worked.

if you want a correct cycle time there has to be a way to define your machine tool kinematics. currently there is no way to do this in mastercam because machine definitions have never been finished.

i'll try and confirm all the steps you wrote above by weeks end. nice to see someone take the time and document this. good job!

i do not use machine simulation because it is too slow.

i went to the web of 5xcnc and they talk about direct cad which seems like it is spaceclaim. is directmill going to run inside of spaceclaim?

we did and never heard from anyone at surfware. surfacam is no longer being considered at our shop. this was not the first time we phoned or emailed and had no response.

neither have i and i got tired of the problems it causes me. now i just use a ball nose and a surfacing toolpath.
