  1. Re: Moving shops, Can I move VF2 servos on 1-phase?

Ah very interesting. Thanks. I'll look into that. I do recall the servo having a few separate cables going into it so easy to check. I'm assuming even with the brake off it won't barely want to move...
  2. Re: Moving shops, Can I move VF2 servos on 1-phase?

To disconnect the servo from the coupling, what is required? It looks like I'd have to take half the sheetmetal off the top to get full access.
  3. Re: Moving shops, Can I move VF2 servos on 1-phase?

If I was pulling the lathe motor I would not use the VFD, i'd just use it as an idler as anyone else does. But after doing the math that little 3hp lathe still won't barely put out the amps to turn...
  4. Moving shops, Can I move VF2 servos on 1-phase?

I have a new (2020) VF2 that we initially put in my garage shop. My rotary isn't working right, the power here sucks, and I've decided to cut losses and rent a new shop with 200A 3-phase nearby.

    Re: The Haas desktop mill.

In reality, thinking back to a gentleman I know who just purchased one for his school, the Mini Mill EDU is right on at 21k and isn't really all that much bigger than a Tormach 1100 anyway. (But it...

    Re: The Haas desktop mill.

If it was something closer to the Tormach 440/770 and it was under $20k, they would move actual numbers instead of this. Not only would such a machine have actual use outside of strictly classrooms,...

Re: Bridgeport table for lathe build?

You might be right about that potentially.

It seems the Atlas beds that are so cheap however are rather small, and the south bend type beds get dovetails that would have to be removed. At any...

    Bridgeport table for lathe build?

I'm looking to put together a scratch-build cnc lathe that will be relatively low cost.

My idea was to use decent linear rails on a fairly true, heavy base and then Mount everything to it.

    I...
  9. Re: REVIEW HELP decision ASAP considering PM 10x22

I too am wondering the same, wanting a 10x22/30 from Precision Matthews. I might also come to look at a larger unit but 10" is plenty for the vast majority of work I do at home in the paintball air...

    Re: Mount G540 to Gantry?

What about a smoothstepper and some chainflex data cable (CAT5 or USB)? That setup would ultimately be more expensive than just using the extra 20ft of motor cable, but, it would cut down on issues...

    Re: Mount G540 to Gantry?

Hmm, so maybe instead of using a full tower PC, it needs to be something like a laptop or micro ATX mobo that I can put into the box. That would be nice...tho gantry mass starts to get heavy in a...

    Re: Mount G540 to Gantry?

So, if I were to perhaps mount it to a small box to keep the lower inputs clear of debris that should help aye?

And then perhaps isolation mount the small box so that what vibrations and shocks...

    Mount G540 to Gantry?

I'm in the middle of a build, and in looking for how much wire and everything else I need, I remember a suggestion someone had made a while back, though I don't recall where.

    Why does no-one...

Re: Help with CNC MOGUL fix

I'm glad I could be of any such help. This is the specific kit I'm looking at: CNC Mogul Special Kit: G540 4-Axis kit (115V/230VAC), NEMA23 381oz in, PSU 48V/12.5A | Automation Technology Inc but I'm...

Hey another Scott with a CNCmogul machine! I assume you using one of the older orange units that came with electronics?

I just purchased one very recently (it just shipped today actually) so maybe...

    Re: CNC for Aircraft Parts

From what I've seen of it on youtube for the older ones, it should get through the basics. I know I'm not getting a steel frame, steel rollers, or anything fancy. But it's the bare essentials of...

    Re: CNC for Aircraft Parts

    Hi guys a quick update:

I've continued the design on my own router table, I'm calling the "Hellcat" after my favorite WWII fighter.

However I have a stronger need for parts than I do to use...

    Re: CNC for Aircraft Parts

I'm sure it would go quite quickly into an abysmal state with no vac at all. I was thinking I'd still run a vac from the spindle but I figure I'd keep it minimal, and the enclosure slides would be...

    CNC for Aircraft Parts

    Hello Zone-goers,

I'm an Industrial Designer, and I have been working on a sort of 'dream project' to build my own fighter plane. To be specific, a 5/8 scale replica F6F Hellcat, built from...
