  1. Re: Z axis goes up but not down intermittently

If it's actually making noise, like it's trying to move, then I'd look at mechanical issues first.
  2. Re: Machine Control Besides Mach and LinuxCNC with stand alone controller.

This link should have been in my earlier post.
Most people are switching to these mini PC's, that fit in your hand. No need for a big bulky PC.

  3. Re: Z axis goes up but not down intermittently

When it doesn't move down, does it do anything? Make noise?

    Re: Mach 3 tuning

You can also replace the "overridden" LED with a user LED, and use a macropump macro to control it.

Re: Suitable cutters for ply/ chipboard etc

    Couple things going on here.

You're feedrate is way too low. I'd double it, but I wouldn't try to cut so deep in one pass. With bits smaller than 6mm, I don't like to cut much deeper than the...
  6. Re: Machine Control Besides Mach and LinuxCNC with stand alone controller.

This is all you need. Very small, and no moving parts.
Look at UCCNC with their UC400ETH or AXBB controllers.
  7. Re: This machine, AMN-6040-M CNC Router: Mach 3 or Mach 4? (etc)

Looking at the PDF, they're giving you a pirated copy of Aspire, as Aspire itself costs $2000
  8. Re: This machine, AMN-6040-M CNC Router: Mach 3 or Mach 4? (etc)

Not with that spindle. If you want to cut steel, that spindle is the weakest link by a large margin.
  9. Re: Help understanding Work offsets and Program limits

If the g-code sends the machine home, then it's part of the Program Limits. Mach3 doesn't know which part of the code is actually cutting, and which is just moving out of the way.

    Re: Overwhelmed: control box electronics

    I think you meant C76.
Yes, the C76 is a breakout board, that the UC300ETH plugs into. You connect the drives to it with adapter boards like this....
  11. Re: New Machine Build - Massive CNC router for timber components

With bonding, I would think Cleavage and Peel forces would be the most problematic?

    Re: Mach4 System Requirements

I tried to load a 100Mb file on my 6 core i7 with 32Gigs of Ram, and it took over 10 minutes to load.

Re: Mach 4 PCID changed ?!?

It probably won't happen again, but it's happened at least once since the initial Mach4 release (Which was unusable).
  14. Re: This machine, AMN-6040-M CNC Router: Mach 3 or Mach 4? (etc)

If your only option is the Chines controller, I'd probably have to say Mach3?
I haven't heard of ANY Chinese controller working properly with Mach4. The vast majority of them don't fully support...

Re: Mach 4 PCID changed ?!?

If you purchase from Artsoft directly, and use up all your licenses, I'm under the impression you can call them to get another one. Provided you are not running 4 machines.

    I've used 4, and have...
  16. Re: motion control board (breakout board ) which one to buy??

I'm using UCCNC. A lot of former Mach3 users have moved to it, and find it a much better product. New features are constantly being added.

Many like the Centroid Acorn, claiming it's a more...
  17. Re: New Machine Build - Massive CNC router for timber components

Let me clarify a bit. You can't feel a physical vibration. But you don't often hear a 5/8" diameter tool screaming when making a cut. I think a big part of it is the long tool length, which is what...
  18. Re: What is the catch with those JMC servo IHSV60-30-40-48

DMM's are 3x the price, which can make a huge difference for a hobbyist.

I'd seriously consider these, but there are a few issues for me.

You need a DC power supply with a lot of current. I'm...

    Re: Need help please

A few terminal blocks will take care of that, for about $5.
  20. Re: New Machine Build - Massive CNC router for timber components

I'd be leery of machines with cantilevered gantries. We have a much newer Morbidelli 636, and while it rips through sheet goods, it's not that great with deep cuts with large bits. I occasionally cut...

    Re: Need help please

    Is the board label wrong?

I know at least one manual is wrong. I have two different ones, and both say different things about the jumper.
  23. Re: motion control board (breakout board ) which one to buy??

First thing you need to do is decide which software you want to use.

Re: Mach 4 PCID changed ?!?

You can log into your account and create a new license, up to 5-7 times I think.
  25. Re: motion control board (breakout board ) which one to buy??

No, they are not the same.

The motion controller communicates with the control software, and generates the step and direction signals.
A breakout board provides terminals to connect your...
