270 oz and up. I also do prefer at least a 32VDC power supply. I don't care for the
cheap 24V switching type supplies. There's a very noticeable difference between the
switching supply and a plain...
You're all set now...:)

Thanks Very Much!

The little mill has a pretty small cutting area...about 4 x 7 in X/Y. Z can be
offset to make use of the style of spindle that'd be best suited to that type
of smaller...

Wow, That looks Great!
:)
Several people have asked if anyone has tried that, but you're the first
AFAIK....
That's a Really Nice looking setup!
Yes, Please-Please let us know how it...

If you mean this part, then yep, it can have a slight bow upwards
in the center. That's from the stress being relieved from cutting
the groove...
Do you mean the table slide??
:)

Lots of people have an interest in PCB milling. Getting
everything dead flat is a usual problem.
Right now I'm trying to explain the meaning of this post
to someone...
...
I know you more experienced guys are already aware, but I'll mention
it for those who are new to this stuff....
The "dingbat" fonts are easy to install and Tons of neat little designs
are easy...
I'm just vaguely familiar with it. I've never used any. It seems
to be more trouble than it'd be worth to use for what I do...
as acme taps are fairly easy to make and delrin works really well.
...
The key thing with casting plastics is to get a feel for it. You have to
do it to get the feel.
Urethanes can begin to set really fast...30-60-90 seconds. Warm
places can make it set faster than...
Sure, many times. I've used them mainly to test assemblies/etc but
have never felt sure enough to put them any machine I ship.
Delrin is just easier and obviously better.
The concern I'd have...
I'd say if you're new to casting plastics, then start with
what's most readily available...and cheapest. It's not for everybody,
so minimize the investment.
Alumilite comes up because it's...
I absolutely Must congratulate you on that!
That's a tough one to do from a jpg. I think that's as fine
of a job that can be done.

BTW...single slides like these don't need the V notched parallel
jig. Just put the bearings on the shaft and rest that into the grooves
for a single slide. Then glue in place. The weight of the...

Same basic slides now used on my larger BBX machine. 1" shafts.
This makes all the MV3 MDF side panels. Works Great!

Next, make some sort of jig to rest the rails in so they're
parallel to each other.
A few scraps of wood/MDF/whatever with V notches made in
them at the same time works very well....so the rails...
Yeah... That's it!
:)
Here's how I make them when I just need a few....
Duct tape, Bearing, Waxed PVC tube....

Thank You, Sir!
I hope to convey truly useful information. I'm so used to it all that
sometimes I may not give a complete enough answer. In that case,
always ask again....

Just in case it doesn't make sense how a thing can be Not
concentric and still align as it should....
The bolts in the bushings need not be *Perfectly* centered.
Of course we want to do the best...
Yep, this is right. They're drilled and tapped as close as reasonably possible
on the lathe. Without need to use any sort of indicators on each bushing...
which would take a ton of time and make...
Hi Rick,
Thanks Very Much!
Sorry for the slow reply...it's been 'work-on-the-truck' day here....:(
There are 2 main ways to make them. Press fit bearings into tubes
or make them separately....
It should work Great. They're very smooth, precise and rugged.
A small lathe is another thing on my list of plans-to-do one of these
days. I tried it once with some larger Z's and it was clear...
Thanks Very Much!

Yep, work on the column is the hold-up for now. There
are a few ways to do that, but I'm not sure which I'll
do just yet....I'd like it to 'look right' in the end.
I was...
Yeah, I think it'd be Great! for small places. I was going to just
build a smaller MV3 version to keep on my work desk, but...even
though I don't have any real plans for it...it'd be nice if the...
