I have a citizen cincom L5 20 machine that intermittantly gets a 52 s1 s5 alarm no spindles will run at all in mdi or program or even when powered down and back up.
this sometimes happens...

I need to change the bearings out on it but...

being a sensible person for a change need to make a backup of the parameters just encase.
does anyone have a procedure to do it.

your instructions i have followed to the letter but i get upto step 7 and cant get the standby on to get it into edit mode to put the parameters in with the pc

mdi mode
pressed ofs/set key twice
brings up screen parameter setting (handy)
changed the write protect from 0 to 1
pressed system key

then as per dcoupar

Then, press the SYSTEM function...

yay sorted it, it's a little different but i will post how i did it for ref
