Anyone have any input on overheating PLC's? Shop temps have been achieving 100*F as we start into August, normal for this time of year, but we have automated equipment "going stupid"... The PLC...
How big is you mag chuck? Probably an expensive fixture unless your doing mass production, I'm guessing.
Another idea that I remember from my fathers shop back in the early 80's, they were using...
In 12ga steel? As in 2.6mm? Holding the material down would be your biggest factor, your next variable would be how much spinlde speed is available.
Plasma would be more efficient than milling...
I discourage nobody, and I deny only those that do not want to learn. And I can honestly say that I've learned more by teaching, than could have been taught. If you don't understand, you have yet...
Oltimer, you really are dumber than ****. You've only ever posted under IH crap, I have to believe your only a hobbyist, not a real machinist, and would you like to expain to a newb that ****ed up...
You need a mentor and a formal appreticship, nothing else could possibly help you and the 1500 followers you declare, you REALLY need a proper education and appreticship. Really! God help you, and...
The first 2 sentences say it all, thank you.
Your efforts to teach and or pass along experience and or knowledge may be unrecognized in what seems to be a hobbyist forum, as previously stated.

Experience is the teacher of all things.
Don't use a chop saw with an abrasive blade, it will just load up and melt the aluminum, nasty cuts, and you won't be able to cut anything thicker than 1/4" aluminum, if that.
I've used a miter...
I just stumbled accross these video's, a great learning tool for anyone starting off in machining.

I just skipped through "machine shop 9" which is...
I second what they said. It can be done on a manual mill, no problem, but usually only an engine shop it going to have the proper honing equiptment. And a power hone isn't cheap, I don't reccomend...
Here is some interesting facts...
Didn't we all buy our Miller welder with the American flag sticker right on the side? It's funny, I cannot find one MADE IN THE USA! or American flag on millers...
Sorry, for some reason I was thinking Enco like they have in high schools. I've never seen an Emco machine in person, but I have seen a lot of video's, looks like good German stuff.
Second thought, I will add this...
THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO BORE A BLOCK!
There is a proper procedure, "yeah, but it works" does not apply here. And you cannot hone .030" out of cast iron with a...
I read that post and realised I would never meet Dennis. I had an open invite for a shop visit and lunch, very shortly after, he passed. And I can tell you for sure, he was not ready to go, he did...
I'll be easy...
My question was answered, my point was proven.
Good day gentlemen, and ladies if and of course,

IMO, anyone talented and skilled enough to do the welding would be capable of sourcing, outsourcing, or manufacturing the parts as pictured. There are few custom manifold builders, but they are in...
Maybe an acumultor in the air supply line to give the drawbar a litte more "umph" would do the trick, easy answer is go back to your old coolant if you wern't having problems.
It's an Emco machine, I'm sorry, I was thinking Enco.
ER collets have a "clamping range", best bet is to grab a catalog that shows the clamping range for the collets from the manufacture. But you'll most definatly be fine, some manufactures are + a...
You know, it's weird, some people can just be near a welder and pick up a case of flash or arc eye, usually people with lighter colored eyes.
One time I was just being completely ignorant, MIG...

That is what I used to use. Probably cheap insurance when your breaking $600 cutters, but still not an inexpensive tool.
And how is that enough to bore a BBF? Or are this just pictures intended to show the bed can hold a BB? You would need around 8" of travel to bore the cylinder, hence the reason engine shops use...
I can tell you how fun it is to dig steel out of your eyeball. For 2 days, I thought I had welding flash, but even the worst I've ever had welding flash, it only lasted 1 day, so I decided to bear...
How much travel does that mill have on the Z axis or quill?
Watch out Wilson, Hogan and Marcella! :)
Good luck!
Wow! That looks like a cradle to suit the offspring of royalty, very nice!
just curious, building an intake manifold? Mold for the runners? Your forum name made me curious.
That is a valid point.
I guess a little finesse is required. I'm not going to say it's impossible to screw something up, I'll only say I've never had a problem.
I think he will be ok.
