Re: Anilam 3 axis Mill Y axis Lag over Max

    Hello,
I have an 1100 Anilam. All of a sudden the servos will not turn on. I hear a click in the box but gives an X lag over max.

Re: Anybody use nitriding to harden molds?

Thanks a lot Deadly, I make molds but only with rotary tooling, not much EDM.
Therefore, I can't work with totally hard metal, like Rockwell 55 C.
I would like to use 4140 hardened to 32 HRC and...

Anybody use nitriding to harden molds?

Hello. I have 4140 half hard molds. They exhibit too much wear, likely from inexperienced operators.
Has anyone ever used plasma nitriding to give a good hard skin to this, or any steel?
    Warping of...
  5. Re: Looking for a midrange 24x24 cnc router, need advice

We're on the same page. My Haas is the only one I can shut down, come in the next day and use my G5X's. That's nice since I make injection molds.
The Avid has 2 ranges. one has a beefier gantry...
  6. Re: Looking for a midrange 24x24 cnc router, need advice

Absolutes make the homing limit switches less critical if you want to power down and restart your operation the next day. But then I've always worked incremental on jobs I do so that isn't critical

  7. Re: Looking for a midrange 24x24 cnc router, need advice

I seem to have an aversion to steppers. I've used them for linear tables for some products and use them now in colorant dosers on our molding machines but I'd really like servos and absolute encoders...
  8. Re: Looking for a midrange 24x24 cnc router, need advice

Thanks. They list cutting and rapid speeds but it comes without motors.
I suppose planting servos and encoders on it is something to consider.
The Onefinity has ball bearings on those shafts and...

Looks good off the bat. Their website doesn't say what a "stiffy" is except it's not free anymore ???

    Th! I'll check it out.
  11. Looking for a midrange 24x24 cnc router, need advice

    Hello,
I think I'm giving up building one. I use Fusion 360 and want a machine which can do plus or minus less than .005" while running Gcode from Fusion.
I've seen Shark, Laguna and others but...

Re: Need source for DC axis motors

The motors I have are 2 - 560 watt motors. They're from the X and Y of a Shizuoka AN-S. It's like a Bridgeport, only twice the size and 5,000 lb. What you say is surprising but what do I know.

Re: Need source for DC axis motors

Thanks Al, You did help me a lot 12 years ago with my retro. Yes, tachs as well on that system.
At the outset I was looking for PM motors in the 250 watt range and just twiddle it until it works in...

Re: Need source for DC axis motors

I've got 2-560 watt PM motors and 1-400 from dismantling my Shizuoka retrofit. They're way too large for a 2X4 router table. I will do heavy cuts in hardwood so I imagine 250 watt axis motors will...

Re: Need source for DC axis motors

Thanks for the info. I looked at Keling's new website. They have brushless. I've never used them. Does the Hall effect feedback eliminate the need for encoders? A machine I retrofitted had...

Need source for DC axis motors

Hello, I have all electronics to make a killer router table but my axis motors are way too big. Over 1 hp and large.
I don't want to go stepper. I'm used to industrial CNC mills and retrofit one....

    EDM with Camsoft?

    Hello,
Can Camsoft be configured to run a wire EDM? Some controllers will not because inputs from the arc generator have to be used to control the cut speed, not just a simple ipm command. The...

Do you mean the original resolvers? I replaced them with actual encoders. Let me know, I might have them.

I don't mind the double hit. I use that as a think point if you know what I mean. I am creative but mistake prone and that slows me down a bit.
