Re: DIY CNC not cutting correct size

Chains, direct connect, it doesn't matter. All machines have backlash. It all depends on how much is present and how it is managed.

But, I think you are on the correct path to fixing it. Keep...

Re: DIY CNC not cutting correct size

I think wizard has it right. Another thing you can do is cut the square and the circle forward and backward (clockwise and counterclockwise). If the two cuts are both off in opposite directions...

No intricate questions... Have another 450 mile trip tomorrow. Gonna look over the website and maybe I will come up with something after that ;)

    David,

Any new vids from the machine? Curious if you have tried to cut any parts yet (secretly interested in finish quality :p )

Re: David A's New 2x3 Bench Top CNC

I agree, just saying that its the only Haas machine that actually presents a problem with twist. Anything with a cast base can ALMOST be done without thinking. I'm not sure what Haas' reasoning was...

Re: David A's New 2x3 Bench Top CNC

Precision test equipment for a precision part. I always liked the challenge that was posed in helping the customer make something dead nuts so to speak. Not to mention that customer did all kinds of...

Re: David A's New 2x3 Bench Top CNC

I acknowledged that he had adjustable feet, that's why I asked about twist. It is possible to level a machine and take the twist out of it. The only one that I ever had problems doing both was on...

Re: David A's New 2x3 Bench Top CNC

Yes, it is a 3D problem. I actually had a customer that cut some insanely small profiles on parts and I went in every six months or less and checked / adjusted the machine. They were quasi threads...

Re: David A's New 2x3 Bench Top CNC

And I need to qualify the above post. It could be that the table isn't flat and needs to be skimmed. But, unless something that is precision ground is placed across the linears, you could never know...

Yes and no. Let's see if I can put this into words... I will put out a hypothetical situation...

You place the 1515 right in the center of the table along the X axis. One piece of paper is needed...

Re: David A's New 2x3 Bench Top CNC

Let me start by saying that I typically WAY over engineer my stuff, so take it with a grain of salt...

Twist would be along the linear rails from one end to the other in both X and Y. And not...

First, now that I see the belt size, I retract my questions about stretch or adjustment. I guess I didn't have a good perspective...

As for your math, I went over it a few times my head and it appears sound. Of...

  21. Re: 10k rpm greased packed spindle, how to make it quieter

You also have to remember the difference in the spindle bearings. I know that the regular VF spindles use ceramic bearings, so they are a more quiet set. I dont remember what the greased spindles...

It sounds like one of the leveling screws isnt carrying weight properly. The minimill series use welded bases instead of cast. So, leveling a MM isnt an exact science like a bigger mill.

    The trick...
