What machine did you buy?
Buying another 3 in 1 would be a big mistake. Keep the Smithy. Then, when you can, get a real lathe and a mill. Be surprised what you can squeeze into a small space. In the meantime have fun...
Please enlighten us.
Bump
How many were sold?
I didn't purchase a CNC Brain but came close, was waiting for the DAC boards.
Any chance of getting your money back?

jd, I guess the moral of this thread, for me anyway, is that when it comes to trashing Smithy, you shoptask guys are hard to beat. :D
Have a nice day.
Smithy sells a cnc lathe with the EZ-Trol control.
Talon CNC 1315 Lathe | smithy.com
They sure do have a nice selection of machines.
I remember when all they sold was a 3 in 1.
Any...
The op last posted on 5-28-12. Seems he still has and is using his Smithy cnc lathe. Unlike a thread on another companies forum here on the Zone, about a member that gave away a new cnc machine...
Mr. Shaver posted his cell phone, his home phone, and his email address. Part time or not, I would say he is here for one reason, to get the op to contact him so he can get his machine issues...
jd, I don't have an answer, but customer service should be any companys top priority and usually is, but somehow a customer slips between the cracks. I found another example:
...
If it costs 10 cents a click that would be 50,000 views a month, 600,000 a year. I wonder how many sales are generated from those ads. Smithy must be doing well in this economy.
JD, as much as you...
Hi Digitalmdi,
Are you this member?

...
I read that post. That was a great post, full of good information, and you didn't even try to sell him a shoptask. Keep'em coming like that.
There ya go Bigjimmy, Smallblock pretty much answered your question. The only thing I would add is that the rpm be the same as your factory motor. Probably 1725.
$370 for a rebuild, this must not be just a 3/4 hp single phase motor with a common frame and mount. You might want to provide more info about the motor for those that don't own a 1220XL.
I would...
I'm just trying to get an answer. Again, I ask, why do guys that say they own shoptask machines, are over here on the smithy forum posting crap.
fastlane,
Since you are here, would you please answer a question that I asked jdclark, sharpshooter and smallblock, but received no reply.
Why do guys that say they own shoptask machines come to...
I'm betting he did not, and his reasons for posting here were two fold :
1st- cut down the Smithy machine by equating it to a Harbor Freight.
2nd- advertise for his company
besides,...
Pretty sneaky way to advertise and not pay CNC Zones advertising rates
Norvil,
Who did you buy yours from.
JD,
Don't lie to the man. You revived that old thread when you posted a link to it here in this very thread, look at post #36, on 10/28/11. I just wanted to know why you keep bringing it up. How...
Your right, I opened the thread, after you provided a link to it, your post #36, posted on 10/28/11.

Looks like negative crap...
If it is then try this and report back the results.
For the mill:
I have a 3/4 inch thick aluminum plate that is 10 inches wide and 25 inches long that I cut on the table saw. I tried to get it...
I don't believe you on the paying return freight bit, no company is that generous, is yours. Or driving around the country to pick up returned machines, that is nonsense. But it would be great if...
I didn't revive the thread, your compadre, one of the other Patriot owners did.

jdclark...
I don't believe you. Who did you talk to? I would like to talk to that person.
Is Smithy selling more machines than your company or something. :D
You must really love your 3 in 1, your post sounds like a sales pitch. The CNC Zone is going to send you a bill for advertising. :D
If you can get an 80% trade in on a new machine with those...
JD,
Do you still have your 3 in 1, or did you sell it and are looking for a used Smithy.
Here is your quote from another forum here on the CNC Zone.
