  1. Siemens 808D output signal for current tool to check

Hi I have an Optimum F80 mill running Siemens 808D with a 10 tool changer I'm just wondering if I can send a signal somehow to an output in the program that gives a binary number for the current tool...
  2. Fanuc 0TD Phase sequence - if I get it wrong what happens?

Hi I have a new lathe Fanuc 0-TD controller. As title suggests, if I flick the on switch and the phase sequence is wrong could I destroy the machine?

I was going to turn on the mains power...

    Fanuc -TD - reliable?

Looking at a 2nd hand cnc lathe with a Fanuc 0-TD controller. Mid 90s or so I believe. Is it likely to last me a few years at least before something goes? Will it be very expensive to replace parts?
  5. Best and worst controller era or series for spare parts?

Hi I'm looking to buy a Fanuc based cnc lathe on a budget and I'm wondering what is the oldest era of machines I should look at before spares become super expensive or hard to get because of age.

Re: BT/NT30 Spindle for 12Z Mill?

    Hi guys,

Can anyone give me any sort of contact at all as to where I can buy a replacement spindle?
I am in Australia which means little to no spindle availability other than overseas. I was...
  7. Flow control valves in Australia for 1 shot oiler? And other fittings?

Hi all anyone know a supplier in Australia for small oil control valves and other stuff like manifolds that would suit a 1 shot oiler project? Looking to make one for my cnc benchtop machine...

Ball screw nut - grease or oil?

I am doing a cnc conversion on a bench mill (rf-45). Should I hook my ball screw nuts up to an automatic oiler system (which will oil my ways too) or a grease system? They have a small hole on the...
  9. Is a 400w servo adequate for RF-45 Z-axis?

Hi pretty much as subject says, is a 400w servo adequate for RF-45 Z-axis? I am picking up some older DMM 400w servos (60EM-DHT-36) and I'm wondering if they'll move it up and down if I counter...

Re: Mini mill conversion Input apreciated

Allright I read an answer on youtube about that once from this guy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2F6100RKOE - simpsons36. Looks like he really knows his s#$t from that conversion and his opinion...
  11. Electrical setup for mains voltage single phase servos ?

I am trying to test my servos and I have the following wiring diagram from the manual which says to put in a contactor with surge suppression and breakers for each servo.
    1) Is this necessary? I...

Re: Chinese ac servo from Fast to Buy

I bought a few 6 months ago from aliexpress (check them, they may be cheaper for you - just search for 750w servo) but I havent gotten around to installing them yet. The high voltage aspect is...
  13. Re: Minimum timing pulley/sprocket size for a servo?

Thanks, I will do that then.

One more question - I was thinking of ordering the ballscrews with machining to support a little bit more coupling room to attach a manual handle. The handle may have...
  14. Re: Minimum timing pulley/sprocket size for a servo?

I think I am going to use GT 5mm pitch, 9mm wide, does this seem too small? Do I base it on instantaneous or maximum HP or the rated HP? Since the 750w servos are about 1HP but can operate at 3HP for...
  15. Re: Minimum timing pulley/sprocket size for a servo?

Thanks guys, I was a bit worried because to go 1:2 on my Z I'd need a 2.2" pulley then a 4.4" for the driven which seems too large. Even 1.5 ratio which I'd like for x and y gives you 3.3" which...
  16. Minimum timing pulley/sprocket size for a servo?

Hi I am trying to work out how big to make the small pulley that goes on my servo. The smaller I make it the higher the force is on the servo for any given torque.

  25. Re: Best belts for 750w servos and 1.8kw spindle? Mill retrofit

    Thanks guys,

I was just running some preliminary numbers for sprocket sizes.

  26. Re: Best belts for 750w servos and 1.8kw spindle? Mill retrofit

Any suggestions as to how to mount one to the servo? The 750w servos have a 20mm bore, and a ~6mm (5.90 measured) width keyway. Total "diameter" of keyway + servo shaft is ~21.9mm.
    I did some...
  27. Re: Best belts for 750w servos and 1.8kw spindle? Mill retrofit

I found the BELT profile but I'm guessing the pulley profile is slightly...
  28. Re: Best belts for 750w servos and 1.8kw spindle? Mill retrofit

Very nice, what cutter did you use for the pulley profiles? I have a dividing head and another mill so I could do that, but it's not cnc so it will be time consuming I guess.
  29. Re: Best belts for 750w servos and 1.8kw spindle? Mill retrofit

Thanks Roger, but I think I can do it, the RF-45 will be hand scraped before assembly so everything should be pretty schmick. Linux cnc controller, servos, automatic oiler, rails on z axis, etc. I...
  30. Best belts for 750w servos and 1.8kw spindle? Mill retrofit

Hi guys, is there a 'go to' belt option for servos that provides minimal backlash and is not out of this world expensive? Perhaps what the 'pros' use on some VMCs?
I have read through some of the...
