Russ, thanks for reply!
so lowering the feedrate is to give me more time to react in case SHTF?
and i do this from the Feed Rate Overide?
thanks
Al
Thank you very much for the replies!
so work home should be a spot that won't be cut away eh? lol.
if my memory serves me, i believe it stopped somewhere in line 2400 when E-Stop was triggered....
questions says it all... probably something pressed the e-stop (ESC) button on my keyboard and mid 30 min cut, machine stopped.
it was painful watching it cut air for good 15-20 mins... lol.
so,...
Sorry for noob post but…
1 flute up cut with pecking motion a viable option?
To reduce time endmill spends rubbing against the MDF?
Or increase plunge speed?
If tearout is issue with up...
Thanks for the info
Will check my posts later
I’ll get info on cut feed and speed as well as endmill used tomorrow
Sorry… been a loooooong day

The Good...

X Axis Cuts came pretty decent... to my novice eyes...
The Bad...

Y Axis Cuts still suck despite the finish pass and spring pass...
The Ugly...

this gonna be a long one...
my cnc router's been doing fine and am having a lot of fun tinkering around.
Build Log here... an oldie riding on skate bearings, upgraded to HY 2.2kW spindle and...
Awesome build log Peter!
Peter,
thank you for your patience in explaining to this noob. i really appreciate it!
i'm going from a plug and play kinda system to this and it is definitely a learning process.
ok, let me...
Peter,
let me get a clearer/better understanding of steppers so i can ask more intelligent questions.
but shooting off the hip, best of both worlds... wouldn't N34 offer both ability for speed...

Thank you for your reply.
That German company is very interesting!
I used to do things with epoxy resin a while back and loved working with it.
It is definitely interesting for sure!

Howdy folks of CNCZone!
It's been a while since I've last posted here!
Well, it seems i've been bit by the bug again and probably spending too much time on the internet.
I've watched a lot of...
i have a older CNCRP 2448 system and now that i'm using it more often... i kinda wish it was wider...
Thank you all for the responses and ideas.
i guess i'm a bit afraid of moving machines over longer distances... last time i tried G00... ran the Z into the limit switch... lol...
it's a learning...
I have recently upgraded successfully to a HY 2.2KW spindle & inverter on my old 24x48 cnc router.
i'm going through some squaring and calibration exercises and seems that every time i am sitting...
hmm... thanks for that input.
i've been thinking about the 5 cut test... but did not think about using the Y rail as the back stop...
i've tried the 3-4-5 squaring method... (my math teacher...
on the bottom of that link, he gives instructions for a 110 input...
Hi fellow NJ dude!
i went through my first VFD+spindle install recently as well.
i have a 2.2kW spindle paired with a HY02D2238 VFD
first step that gave me a confidence boost was reading this...
Gary,
thank you.
as i am still a newbie into this thing... i am busy jotting down what "seems" important and trying to keep a log book of the settings and such.
as for speeds, i'll get that...
Got a one track mind that is quite stubborn...
so worked up some prototype 3D printed adjustable E2B mount for the Y Axis...

wish it had a tighter movement as it is somewhat...
Gary,
thank you very much for your in-depth explanation of your setup!
by "bypass sensor," you mean that the sensor is perpendicular to the movement of axis and hence no chance the axis crashing...
thanks... i guess time to re-print limit switch mounts.
now, if i set up soft limits and keep it active... every time i hit REF ALL HOME, it goes to the set soft limits and not beyond it?
I knew it was too easy...
so overly excited to get motion... i decided to grab some more of liquid courage... put on my bits and try a plunge hole cut like the one you see in CNCRouterparts video...
lol... i hear ya... it's a "super hobby WANT to do thing" it's always a matter of WANT... hahaha
thanks!
Ok, some update time!
took the opportunity to re-wire the control box and clean up the mess...
these cable organizing comb kinda thing is so cool!

i think i'm going to re-cut my front...
I have a small project of about 400-600 pcs that needs to be laser cut on 304 Stainless Steel.
Materials are combination of 10 gauge, 12 gauge & 14 gauge 304 Stainless
requires for laser cutting...
Minor update before the Thanksgiving Holidays...
Mounted the box to the wall, inserted the electrical panel and connected power to VFD
