    Re: drive issues

You aren't going to like this advice... but I suggest removing all wiring from the enclosure and starting over.

Make a list (spreadsheet) of all components, what they do, what the input/output...

(SOLVED) Emco 325-II (Fanuc 21TB) live tool alarms

Changing the g-code order and adding a pause did the trick.

M52 (C-axis on, also homes C-axis so no need for)
    M13 (live tool CW)
G4 X1 (needed pause before the speed command. No pause = alarm)...

    You're thinking this, right?

    M5
    M52
    G97 S5000 M13

Doesn't make sense to me as it alarmed when I was using MDI one line at a time. The spindle wasn't running (in spindle mode), and I could do...

Emco 325-II (Fanuc 21TB) live tool alarms

Need some help with my 325-II (Fanuc 21TB) if anyone's run in to this problem or has an idea.

Trying to use the live tools and I'm getting two alarms when I activate the M-codes.

How does argon improve surface wetting or clean oxides?

Flux has two purposes - shield the materials from atmospere, and clean the surfaces to promote wetting. ACHF alone is not sufficient unless...

    Peter,

Generally DC-. ACHF if the base material is dirty or has a tenacious oxide layer that keeps the filler from wetting out.

Use 2% thoriated electrode, argon shield, and boric acid flux...

Yes. Everything moves a bit when you heat it & cool it, but I've done structural repairs on cast iron that stayed put after machining. Think broken corner of a bridgeport table.

    If I were to...

As Peter mentioned, there is brazing, and braze welding. Two...
  10. Re: Catahoula's router/mill build - welded steel with EG

Stick with the M6's. If you can't get enough play for alignment you can ream the bearing block holes out a little... and the M6's will hold better than M5's.

Since it seems like you have the same...

    Re: Vista CNC pendant questions

I leave mine plugged in 24-7, and it does the same thing yours does (LCD on). These things can be fickle for a particular USB port, so once you find one it likes - never unplug it.

Lintech Motion makes an "HRC" profile rail series. Have a look at their site and compare dimensions, might be the ticket.

Not to distract you Peter, but this thing is starting to look like a good candidate for a horizontal mill.

Yes, as a matter of fact - it's curing right now. I'll report in the Milli thread when I have stiffness data, including the column-to-bed joint.

I'm not sure how 'quite new' dual-loop to the drive is.

My Copley Xenus with dual-loop is from 2012, and Ultra3000's go back before 2005. I've no idea when Yaskawa started doing it, but I've seen...

Packaging in an enclosure will be easier, and the Dyn4's can run the servo to higher speeds. I believe the latest DYN4's don't require the irritating add-on logic filter anymore as...

I don't know what the 'drive controller' is you mentioned, but you're mostly on the right track. To make a stepper motor move, you need

    Power supply
    Controller

    The drive is the...
