Andrew, I'm Perth NoR (I don't go South, you people are strange.... )
I've done a HM45 conversion that ran on Mach 3 and now have a nice locally built linear rail machine running on...
Bohler (now called Voestalpine)
Bohler / Voestalpine
ANY noise when just sitting idle is too much noise.
Sorry I don't have any insights into what might be causing it though.
J3dPrints, I'm in Perth, be interested in sharing freight, I've got a HF 45, looking to go BT30.
Also some indication of the percentage of the business you're offering?
Where are you planning to source the spindle?
Mate I have a half arsed HM 47 conversion (in the sense that I have the electrics working but still running on the Acme lead screws).
Surprisingly once you tighten things up they are quite accurate...
Hi Ger,
I get what you're saying, and I guess I could have/should have offered more info, and sadly I didn't read the whole article otherwise I would have found a "better" one to link to, my bad....
I run my Mach 3 under Win 7 and keep it disconnected from the interwebz.
But for those running Win 10, are you aware of the LTSB build you can get? Long Term Service Branch.
LTSB is designed...
Same as CL_MotoTech
NOTE: We are using ESS.
I've never had a problem, I dare say the aversion to anything newer than Win 7 is probably a throwback to issues with parallel ports??
Homann Designs all the way.
Yes you can maybe save a few $$ but is it worth it?
Personally I believe in cry once, buy the best you can afford, Peter has done the hard yards on the research, and...
HI Squirrel,
mate thanks for the response, and yes my bad the first move IS in the Y direction.
The issues were ALL down to not having that damn capacitor across the probe inputs on the BoB.
...
READ THE STICKYS!!!!!!!!
Then read them again!
All I needed was a 10Uf Capacitor as stated in the sticky on XYZ Probe Modification HERE
I had a sneaking suspicion it was noise but I ignored...
It should be finding a corner (that's how I understand it) so should be finding X, then retracting the probe, finding Y and showering me with love, not giving me the cold shoulder like it is.
I've...
WOW talk about a fast reply!
OK, so that makes sense now.
Next dumb question..... When I try to probe an "outside rectangle" the movement is again in the X positive direction until the probe is...
Squirrel, maybe I'm dumb but I can't make it work, what is the "Calibrate Probe" button supposed to do?
When I run it the probe moves in the X positive direction until it triggers the probe, then it...
Hi Guys,
just thought I'd contribute something here.
I went to Bohler in Perth yesterday, great guys looked after me very well. They have a rack of pallets with tons of off cuts. 6061 $12 per...
*thread resurrection alert*
Hmmmm..... 4 years (we can't rush these things) and finally I placed an order last week, and yesterday I received my CNC kit from Homann Designs *Hi Peter*.
1200...
Maybe too late now, but did you try running Alibre in "Compatibility mode"?
If you right click on the desktop shortcut you'll see a tab called "compatibility", under that you can tick a box and...
Hi Greg, sorry for the late reply mate.
I've had various degrees of success just "cold door knocking" likely businesses on the East side of Hartman Dve, there's about a dozen engineering...
Hi Greg, have you tried this guy from Ebay Aus?
discount.metals on eBay
I don't know exactly what he has, just one of those on my watch list "just in case"....
Let us know how you go, I'm just...
Hi Mark,
I called into Hare And Forbes today and dropped nearly a grand on a half way decent vice, some measuring equipment and some basic tooling.
Trammed it all in and made a few chips this...
Have you looked in device manager, under ports, and checked the address of the parrelell port?
Just a guess but Mach3 might be expecting the parralell port to be at the default address of LPT1, and...
Pearldiver, where are you located?
If you're in Perth, there's a nice english knee mill on Gumtree that you'd get for $3K, even if you're not in Perth, freight wouldn't make it out of the price...
Hi All,
I've been looking around and considering options for a while, I'd sort of decided on a HM 48 when good old Gumtree produced a HM 46 with a bucket load of tooling that had only been used on...
Thanks mark, I'll have a read of the thread, and might see if I can ply you with alcohol one weekend.
I'm just finalising things financially now, should be settled in a month or so, then it's off...
*Bump
Hi fellow Perthites, is this group still meeting?
I'm about to be buying myself a divorce present  and would like to seek advice from those with experience.
