Re: Trying to build my own CNC Laser cutter

That's not accurate. CO2 lasers can cut metal but they don't do as well as fiber and the operational cost is more.

I have a friend that has one of these but is a 150 watt and he cuts 18 gauge...

Re: Powermax 45 Fine Cut Consumables Question

Jim, I noticed these aren't book settings for 14 gauge using 45A consumables. Does cutting at a lower amp and slower speed lead to longer consumable life?

    Re: Drum sander rebuild

I was hoping to see a better outcome on your sander Lee. I bought a wood planer with a 5hp motor on it to turn into a drum sander to do what you were looking to do.

Did the conveyor belt you got...

    Re: Delay for scribe

For anyone that finds this down the road with the same issue Tom at CandCNC created the 11N post for the scribe so you can but delays in to compensate for the slow slide reaction.

Re: Eric's 4'x4' CNC Plasma table build

Hey Eric, that's how i set up my table with the long level but I never thought about using a strap to hold it together. I would tack it together and check square and level then cut it and try again....

    Re: Sheetcam Z Axis problem

Did you set up the offset in the MP1000 post?

If you have old tap files that have the correct offset and some new that have the wrong offset that could be the issue.

    Re: Building another 5x10

I'll check that too Lee but those have 2 bearings each and it hasn't seen enough use I wouldn't think to have wear yet.

    Re: Building another 5x10

I don't see the movement in the bearing block when I grab the Z. It's just a bit of flex in the Z itself and the 30MM rail.

So do you think if I added another bearing it will help? I noticed that...

    Re: Building another 5x10

I've just been cutting 14 and 16 gauge and the effects are amplified so I've been cutting around 95 IPM. I thought mine was the THC as well but then I noticed that as the Z flexes the THC is just...

    Re: Building another 5x10

    Re: 4 X 8 Plasma table

It seemed the consensus was that 3:1 gearing was about the ideal ratio for the stepper motors. I kind of copied my design off of dnelso's build and because I didn't have a cheap and easy way to make...

Re: 5x5 budget build g540, LCTHC, powermax 1000

    Nice!

I was looking at the router stuff at Home Depot I think it was and they have a Makita 1 1/4 HP router that is variable speed from 10,000-30,000 rpm for $100.

That may be an option as...
