I saw some machines for cutting cardboard/foam/neoprene etc that use a tangential knife... keep the tangential part and substitute the scoring blade and your good to go :D
Yeah but can that car produce other cars?
i think that is one of those things similar to which axis is x and which is y
just a preference on how you program your parts and how you zero to your material
got my bearings today so unfortunately i have no more excuses but laziness not to get this thing finished.
HF had their router speed controls on sale in the last sale paper i got.

Sweet with you and Joe both working on 4x8+ designs, by the time i finish my jgro, and build joes 2006 you guys should have some nice designs to look at for expanding further.
Keep it comin!!!
You have to really decide what you want to accomplish with the machine. Arcylic, mdf, balsa, is definately possible for $100 hardware only, not going to guarantee any kinda of accuracy on that budget...
I am starting out with a jgro style machine, I too want to design my own, but there are a lot of things to consider that I don't think i would have even imagined until I started scrapping parts if i...
Got my lovejoy's and some wires from pminmo today... still have no idea where my bearings are. I wish they would hurry up and get here so I wouldn't have any reason not to work on it. :(
Looks like a very capable machine. What all are you making on it?

Hrmm... and I was just trying to get a free kit LOL
Looks like squished sandwich bread. I LOVE IT !!!!!
[edit] What is your magic oil?
Your page wouldn't load. Why not attach some images here.
Got my acme nuts from Dumpster today, these things are beautiful :D Soon as my bearings get here I'll be ready to measure and cut the acme rod down.
try putfile or somewhere else to host it.
Send me a kit and full dimensions and I'll measure for accuracy *wink wink*
How are the captive steel nuts working for you? How often do you have to adjust for wear?
Joe I read in another thread that you use 1/4" and 1/8" endmills , I can't seem to find that thread again to see what brand you use and where to get them (if it even mentioned that) I'm almost to the...
I ordered what should be the last of the parts needed for assembly this weekend. Depending on shipping speed I might be ready for final assembly next weekend, and if I'm not lazy all week and solder...
I am using 1/2x10 acme. Also picking up some anti-backlash nuts from dumpsterncnc, and some 1/2" bearings on ebay to mount it in.
You would position and square your workpiece on the table, then zero the router out to a known point in your drawing so they line up.
I thought long and hard about doing that, but everytime I sat down and started drawing a machine from the "stolen" ideas it ended up looking just like a jgro anyway LOL
Lookin good. I'm just barely ahead of you on the mechanicals, and slightly behind on the electronics.
Looks like yours is going together much more accurately than mine is :D I kinda went...
Cool. Seems like everyone is making airplanes... guess I'm gonna have to take up another hobby when I get mine finished :D
Very very nice looking machine. What will you be cutting on it?
Got x and z put together.
Waiting for a little cash flow so I can get some of Dumpsters acme nuts and some 1/2 bearings and couplers. Should have the y axis together and everything slidin back and...
I was just venting from parts being very close to not working. So far nothing is so bad that it has to be remade :D Stuff is straight for the most part, and what isn't is my own fault for not...
I SUCK AT WOODWORKING
LOL
I really need to get this thing finished so I make some straight cuts.
Got the adjustment blocks cut and installed on the z axis, little bit of work on the leadnut...
I'm building the a3977 boards (choppers) but they won't do the 3 amps your motors require. The picstep should handle them but i think they are a little more expensive to build. I would definately go...
