Almost too embarrassed to post this but, I've got a video on my channel of a blade being machined. In case its of some help...

  2. Re: AEB-L Stainless? Any "touch or feel" comments from the Tormach Knife Clan?

I think you will find warping to be no bigger an issue than you have had in the past. I've found AEB-L warps less than some of the other stainless I've tried. I've started milling my primary bevels...
  3. Re: AEB-L Stainless? Any "touch or feel" comments from the Tormach Knife Clan?

I do a fair amount of milling in AEB-L (custom knives as you might expect Cox Workshop) I'm not sure I'm understanding your question though. I heat treat to approximately 63 and then temper back to...

Re: Pathpilot start with 640 X480 screen

I second the "Check your cable". I had a similar problem with a tormach pathpilot box, tried three different cables. Third one fixed the issue. I can't remember off the top of my head what the issue...

Wow, I'm an idiot. If we could all pretend I'm not a big dummy after asking that question that would be great :)

For some reason I thought the circular boss probing routine was for a horizontal...

    Custom Probe

I've got a situation where I need to find the center axis of a vertical rod with a digital probe. So kind of the opposite of finding the center of a hole. I need to do it many times and am realizing...

    Re: Fusion 360 Deal

I'm a big fan of fusion 360, its what I do all my CAD and CAM in. So don't take this as me not recommending it, just a question for the other users on the forum...does it crash a lot for anyone else?...
  10. Re: Inexpensive TTS ER20 Collet Chucks Still Available?

That's not quite accurate. You want the stylus perpendicular to the direction of the movement you wish to measure. So in this case I would want my stylus parallel to the axis of the spindle, not the...

    Re: Setting Tool Offsets

The wildhorse probes come with a flat aluminum disk attachment to do just that. I've not used that attachment though so I can't comment on how well it works.

    They've been claimed
  13. Re: Inexpensive TTS ER20 Collet Chucks Still Available?

Ya that's a good thought. I had wondered that myself. But I checked the stickout of my R8 collet and it was less than the recess in the tool holder.
  14. Re: Inexpensive TTS ER20 Collet Chucks Still Available?

So the ebay seller never asked for these tool holder with excessive runout to be returned. Would anyone have a use for them? I can't think that I will need them. They don't have the nuts because I...

Thanks for posting that. Makes me worry though. I know mine is hotter than that. Ambient temps in my shop are high 90s so that might be part of it. I ordered an infrared thermometer from Amazon this...

Yeah, if you wouldn't mind checking the temperature tonight I would really appreciate it. I feel like mine stabilizes pretty quick as well, so its probably ok. I'm just new to the Tormach so I...

    Re: Conversational causes crashes

One thought I had is make sure the work offset the conversational code is using is the same work offset you zeroed in. I know I've changed my work offset to G55 and forgotten about it. Then later...

    Spindle Heat

I've noticed that after 15 minutes of use the spindle on my Tormach PCNC 1100 is hot. Not too hot to touch but still hot. I had an old Wells Index mill and never remember the spindle getting hot. Is...
  20. Re: Inexpensive TTS ER20 Collet Chucks Still Available?

Tested the rest of the holders. One didn't test real well. The others were acceptable.

    Re: 1-72 threads

Remember with a form tap your hole should be slightly oversized since a form tap is not cutting/removing material like a standard tap but actually forming the material that's there.
  22. Re: Inexpensive TTS ER20 Collet Chucks Still Available?

Quick update: I got a package from ebay seller YSTOOL today. Came all the way from China. Not sure how he got it here this quick. We agreed just 2 days ago that he would send replacement ER20 tool...

  24. Re: Couple of dumb questions for new PCNC1100 Setup

Don't mean to derail this thread but this brings up a question I've been wondering about. I'm about to put in my order for a power drawbar. I've got a bunch of extra air line filter/regulators just...
  25. Re: Inexpensive TTS ER20 Collet Chucks Still Available?

I agree, your setup is better. I didn't have a v-block and maybe the patience :) to be as thorough as you were. I think given a sample set of 10 though its probably statistically representative of...

  27. Re: Inexpensive TTS ER20 Collet Chucks Still Available?

I misspoke regarding the run-out I was seeing on those tool holders. It was late when I was running the test and I guess I was tired because I forgot I was using the 0.0005 indicator and not the...
