  1. Re: AC sewing motor as spindle.....Any advice?

He's asking for a motor for a milling machine, not a CNC router. The RPM's of a router would be too high for a typical milling machine, and lack much torque at the lower RPM's he'd need to be at for...

Re: how to change time and date

Look under the "System Settings" for "Date and Time."

You probably need to use 'sudo' to use date or rdate from the command line to change the date and time. Type "man sudo" for an understanding...

Re: how to change time and date

You can do it from either the command line or the GUI. For the command line either man date or man rdate. The GUI should be self explanatory. What version of Linux are you running?

  5. Re: Linux / linuxcnc can't see my parallel port card

You can try it. Probably easier just to get a supported card - LinuxCNC Documentation Wiki: LinuxCNC Supported Hardware

  6. Re: Linux / linuxcnc can't see my parallel port card

    lspci -v | grep par

That command will tell you if the OS sees the parallel port card.

    Re: CNC Motion Control Board

And how is that different from any other control system that you've never worked with before?

Like 109jb said, the OS and control system software is automagically installed by the LiveCD. If your...

    Re: Using Linux honest opinion?

Been using LinuxCNC since it was EMC2, almost 15 years now. I use it on a custom machine, a CNC saw beveler. I'd use no other control. It's rock solid and pretty much bullet proof. I had tons of...
  12. Re: A New Widescree-Touch LinuxCNC User Interface Proposal

I think you meant to type "preceding" in your first sentence.

Let me give you a little more of my background. I've got a computer science degree and worked for years writing code and building...
  13. Re: A New Widescree-Touch LinuxCNC User Interface Proposal

I'm not a fan of all GUI's but I do like some.

You do realize this is a public forum, open to any and all opinions. Once you start a thread, it's open to any replies. Those 10 paragraphs as...
  14. Re: A New Widescree-Touch LinuxCNC User Interface Proposal

Eh, it's a forum and it's only a conversation. I'm not attacking you, just responding to questions and such.

Did they go through the official channels with the developers and ask to have it...
  15. Re: A New Widescree-Touch LinuxCNC User Interface Proposal

So a few users of the software had issues with you in one way or another. I doubt very much it was the developers, since they don't use the forum much if at all. I see them quite often on the email...

  17. Re: A New Widescree-Touch LinuxCNC User Interface Proposal

Documentation is always something that needs to be worked on, whether it's for commercial software, or Open Source. I'm not quite sure I understand your statement: "some of LinuxCNC's web...
  18. Re: A New Widescree-Touch LinuxCNC User Interface Proposal

I'm sure there are folks who might be interested in another interface design. However, the developers already supply a number of working interfaces. A number of those interfaces were written and...
  19. Re: A New Widescree-Touch LinuxCNC User Interface Proposal

Those off-forum meetings are the developers determining how they can improve the base software. LinuxCNC is open source. Which means the developers write and fix code in the base system, and if...

    Re: sandvik tooling for sale

No. New products must be posted in the News and Announcement forums. That's the only place you can advertise on the forum. Also, that forum is only for new product announcement, not for posting...

You don't need to quote your previous post to add a new post. It doesn't add anything to the topic. Just click on either the "Reply To Thread" button or use the "Quick Reply" box down below.

Re: Pressure Sewage line (camp 1000-5000PE)

You're probably better off asking your questions on a civil engineering forum. What you're asking is pretty much out of scope on this forum. This sub forum deals primarily with mechanical...

    Re: Upgrade of Huanyang vfd

Guys, don't want to seem to be a spoil sport here, but you're burying the original topic of the VFD with chit-chat and other topics that are better off being asked in the other forums that are set up...
