I've got the .igs file if you want it.

Just in case though, I've got those dampeners on the way from McMaster.

I'm glad I found this post; I have a G4003G due to arrive this week...thanks!

I found this formula last night:
Minor = Major - (5*sqrt(3)/8)*Pitch
So in this instance:
6.5 - (5*sqrt(3)/8)*.0769 = 6.416"
So, according to this calculation, the minor should be 6.416"
A friend of mine called this evening looking for help, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere. He needs to cut some internal threads that he says are 6.5" - 13TPI. I've never worked with...
I searched for smartphone, blackberry and android, but didn't receive any hits. Anyway, has anyone heard of using a smartphone (not a PDA) to communicate with a CNC machine? With all the technology...
For all our other machines with FANUC-based controls, we use a standard full-handshake null modem:
1 - 1
2 - 3
3 - 2
4 - 5
5 - 4
6 - 8 - 20
7 - 7
I posted this over on the FeatureCAM forum, but thought I would ask here too as that forum doesn't seem to have as much traffic.
I'm just not good enough with this software yet to figure this out,...
Thanks a million, I appreciate it!

OK, so let me get this straight...
For 1 3/16-16 internal threads:
minor diameter = 1.125 (1.1875-.0625; what it's bored/drilled to before threading)
pitch = .0625
thread height = .03125...
I'm trying something new....thread milling. I want to do a 1 3/16-16 internal thread, but I'm having trouble finding the requirements that my CAM software needs. I need to know the minor dia....
Thanks Gary, I think I've found what you're talking about.

I want to make a few AR-15 lower receivers for personal use out of 6061 T6 billet. I've got the .igs file and can import it into FeatureCAM fine, set the stock dimensions fine, etc., but when I try...
Also (while I have the smart folks' attn.), I only need to use 6 of the wires coming out of my standard PC power supply. I took the top of the supply off to have a look, and saw that most of the...
Maybe I worded it wrong (always a strong possibility with me). I'd like to use the DIN connectors with 22g wire to run my stepper motors. The stepper motors themselves are 6.75V/1.5A per phase, but...
Thanks for all the help folks, Action-Electronics had everything I was looking for (except a certain E-stop switch). I ended up ordering wire, connectors and a few switches from them.
A few quick...
I'm trying to find some 22-6 stranded conductor wire (shielded) to tidy up the wiring on my CNC micro mill. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Also, I don't need a 1000' spool, only about 25' at...
Again, thanks for all the help folks, I really appreciate it. Without everyone's help here, it probably would have taken days to get this far.
Right now, I only have 5V going to the motors, but...
ZWDEAL, you were spot on about the 4000 steps per; it moves as close to 1" as I can measure at home (all the DTI's and calipers are at work).
Now, I just need to figure out what the rest of the...
Thanks for the math, that cleared a little of it up for me. I was able to determine that the Nema23 motors that I have are 200 steps per rev., but I don't know what steps my driver (FET4 from...
Thanks for the heads-up on the screw pitch! I suppose that my main problem at the moment, is that I can't figure out how to set the inputs/outputs for the motors in Mach3.

I'm starting to get frustrated, and I'm not sure where to start looking for answers. I figured that instead of spending (literally) days reading and researching (when "spare" time is rarely found...
Thanks for the reply Mike, that sounds pretty much like what I'm wanting to do. I'm going for precision rolled ACME screws, stainless steel, 1/2-10, 2 starts (5 turns per inch = .200 traver per...
It shouldn't make a difference at all. The only reason I use the LMS parallels at home is because they're 3" long (the same width as my vise) as opposed to 6" For what I do, the accuracy isn't too...
Edge finder definitely does not have to be starrett, I believe the ones I use are whatever's on sale at the time. Good calipers under $100; check out Mitutoyo, they're usually around $70-80 if...
I don't have any direct links to the products, but I get most of my tools (I'm a lowly CNC aerospace machinist) and other things from:
http://www.use-enco.com
http://www.mscdirect.com...
Well, I purchased an X1-type from HF a week or so ago, and I'm supposed to be receiving the extended X and Y kits from LMS tomorrow. I will be CNC'ing this machine before too long (probably within...
Here's a 15% coupon for 'ya that's good for a little while...but it does mention that it's for retail stores only.
Resize it to 3.5"x2.75" and print it out.
