Looks like it would be fun to play with, I'm going to give it a try,.
Thanks Mike
I don't have facebook, but i infer by the rest in peace comment that Steve has passed.
Sad to hear, I had nothing but pleasant interactions with him here on the board, and he helped me a number of...

Sounds like a good addition, for not much money. These days I use my 1100 seldom enough that I always manually apply some oil to the z before using it. Might need to order a second one.
Thanks, that's exactly what I need, just ordered the second one you linked, thanks very much.
Terry
I'd like to get a manual one to replace the broken one on my surface grinder.
Do you have a link, or brand name Mike?
Are you guys talking about one of these, or something else?
Terry
Great to hear you got it whipped! Nice looking tap too.

Well I tried to reply to Mountaindew and admit my brain fart yesterday, but for some reason it didn't post. So I'm doing so again today, hopefully the next time I post, I will remember what...
Hey all,
I just discovered the 5C Serrated Collets on Tormach's website and wondered if anyone had used them yet.
They are supposed to be offered for holding rough or scaled stock, presumably...
I know Rube Goldberg would be proud of us if he were alive today. :)
I agree, it doesn't look too suitable for any kind of production, especially in tough materials. There are better, higher speed methods.
I just kind of like the clever way our predecessors found...
Well, guess I wasn't crazy after all, but darn it, they stole my idea!
Thanks for the video's deadly kitten.
Well, I did say it was a weird idea, just thought it would be cool if someone could pull it off,
I believe you are right about the straight flute cutters, the pics I've seen show those, and the geometry of the cut probably requires it.
Of course I know you you can cut non round holes already...
Hi All, I haven't posted in a while, so I thought I would go with something a little crazy.
Is anyone here familiar with Watt Tooling? It's pretty old school stuff for making not round holes...
Back in the days when it made economical sense, I used to repair TV's for friends. One day a co-worker brought me one that he owned, and had had a near miss lightening strike, the lightening did not...
Yep, you are correct, but my problem is, it's almost always a one-off for me, so I am hoping for a solution that require minimum setup, or fixturing.
Terry
Thanks for the reminder, Shred, I was concerned about that.
I am going to try the tack spray first, since it's cheap, I've got a can on order now. If that doesn't pan out I'll try the Seklemat...
Thanks guys, those are all good idea's. I'm going to give some of them a try. I'm really interested in the Seklemat, that would require essentially zero prep and setup. I suppose the only problem...
Hi All,
I know this isn't really a Tormach related question, but I also know there are some smart folks here with wide experience in other areas.
I am trying to find a source of double sided...
Thanks for update, I understand now. I have seen mitee-bites before, but don't own any and didn't realize the small range.
Terry
Did you perhaps mean 0.5" of grip range? I've never seen a clamp with only 50 thou of range? :)
Terry
Hi,
Just wanted to welcome you to the forum as an active user now. It sounds like you have a lot of fun with your machines, and we have similar interests. I, just in the last couple of months,...
Bob,
If you held everything else the same, the surface area of the shaft of a std TTS tool holder is about 3.83 sq inches, while a 1" shaft would give about 5.5 sq inches, around a 30% increase....
Bob, They are easily machinable, and I have done that, creating the recess similar to the TTS holders.
Kstrauss, you may be correct, I haven't seen anything in the catalog to say they are...
I've had good luck with this type collar to create TTS tooling. Mostly I use them on home made dedicated drill holders, but have never had one move on me.
Also one more positive for the fly...
I don't know if it's available for the 15L, maybe just for the 8L packages. Could be like the mills, only works on the newer models.
Terry
Hi all,
Looking at the 8L lathe on Tormach's site got me to wondering about the new PathPilot Operator Console. I know it's available for the new mills as well as the lathes.
Has anyone...
