I have the same. Did this work for you?
I'm converting an old Sherline mill to CNC. Seems this example is old and does not have the three piece leadscrews like more modern versions. My lead screws are all one-piece. I'm using Sherline...
I've had this old Sherline milling machine for a few years now. Never used it much and stopped using it all-together once my new Jet benchtop mill was setup.
Being basically lazy I procrastinated...
Whatever is easiest for you. And, thank you.
Yes it looks like the 1200 is nothing more than a modified MC60 with a PWM input rather than analog.
Yes, I'd appreciate a photo or scan of the document. Also if you would take a clear photo of...
Sounds like you are good-to-go. I'd still be interested in seeing that page from inside the treadmill if possible.
Thanks.
Sorry for my delayed reply. Busy with work.
I'm a bit dyslexic and misread your post about the controller. If you still have the top or bottom cover(s) to the treadmill there should be a plastic...
Well that's great news that you were able to get the flywheel off easy.
As for a pulley, I'd make a pulley that slipped over the 17MM shaft of the motor and allows you to put a left hand threaded...
You are not going to find a treadmill motor that runs CCW. The reason you are hearing a clicking is because the brushes have worn into that direction. After some use they should seat into the other...
You should be able to use that motor. I've worked with many of this type of motor and there is nothing electrically to prevent you from reversing the leads and running it CCW will work.

Holy thread resurrection Ratman!
No not all do. The easiest way to determine if there is suitable controller is look for either a round speed knob or a sliding knob. Those almost always will have...
Oh GOD.
It's ALIVE! IT'S ALIVE!!!!!
Pics?
You won't hurt anything by removing that dowel. I've never used it as a stop in the 2 years I've had my mill. Of course YMMV...
It's pretty simple. You need a 5K ohm linear potentiometer or you can use the pot on the control panel of the treadmill. If a slide pot I'd replace it or mount it somewhere swarf will not get into...
Sadly the current issues of HSM and Machinist's Workshop do not have H-F ads...
I also have the Taig 2010 and found it to be an excellent value. I think they are about $60 with screws.
Did you get the X axis slop/tightness sorted out? I'm going to buy a new benchtop mill/drill and this machine is one I am considering.
Any other issues pop up yet?
As said there is a pin missing from the assembly. The first thing I did to my H-F lathe with that setup was to remove it. ;)
The problem you have is that the outside diameter of the spindle is only 30MM You would be making the walls of the spindle dangerously thin (less than 2MM) IMHO.
Keep an eye on Craigslist for a free or dirt cheap treadmill. You want to look for Proform and Weslo treadmills with the MC-60 controller inside. Super easy to hack into a variable speed setup for a...
I did not look at the H-F toolpost but I suspect it's the same as this one from Micro-Mark. Less than $60 with two holders. Set of three extra holders at $33.

The trouble is that cruddy tooling produces cruddy results whether you are a pro or hobbyist.
Yea, Enco is just like H-F on a lot of their stuff. I'd go with the cut down parts from LMS and a good AXA type tool post. It will save a lot of grief methinks.
I've bought a fair share of import...
Other than the little 1/4" square indexable bit set H-F sells the rest is mostly garbage. That includes drill bits, taps/dies too.
www.littlemachineshop.com is a good source as is feebay.
Even better than the SB book (which is darned good) is:
Textbook of Turning by PF Hercus. Hercus made (makes??) SB clones in Australia.
You can download the book here:...
Interesting...
TroyO.... Do you know what brand and model of controller board you have?
The controller on my POS H-F 7x10 croaked over the weekend (Just when I needed to make parts, of course!...
In all honesty do not get a 7x machine. You will want to gouge your eyeballs out after a bit of screaming at it. I'm about to get rid of mine. Giant pile of crud IMHO.
The 8x12 is reported to be a...
My little machine shop is in a spare bedroom in my home. I have no useful basement...
In there I have a 7x10 mini lathe, Taig 2017ER milling machine, drill press, air compressor, small hydraulic...
As long as the filters in your DD are good I don't see how it would hurt anything. I have an expensive Dirt Devil with a HEPA filter and used it until I rigged up my old Shop-Vac in the machine room.
