Well? did flipping it work?
I know that you are drilling it first, what I asked is what size drill are you using? Changing the drill size could make a big difference. It may be that using a slightly smaller drill would allow...
This is a parameter issue. The machines ship from STAR with a limited amount of travel off of CL on T11-14. Are you putting your offset in Geometry or Wear? Either way a quick call to STAR and you...
2 questions. First where is the chip building up? is it on the ID section of the bore or the OD section, it appears from your code that it does both. Second, if it's on the ID section, what are you...
Hello all,
I work in a Swiss Turn Shop in Washington state with machine time available. We have tons of capability to do just about anything you could want. If it's under 1.25" in diameter I can...

Does anyone out there have a good macro for doing thread sections? I have one that seems to work ok but it doesn't repeat. It will make a perfect part, and then it will make a part where the pitch...
How Come you stop the spindle between the turn and the thread?
What condition is that 17-4? Is it the 908 stuff or whatever it is? Or has it been heat treated good and hard? That's a big part of it too. 17-4 is not always fun. .0005 of feed seems awfully slow...
Give yourself another .1 of hole depth and see what happens. A serrated collet will definitely help. But at those diameters you can't be generating THAT much force. Like I said I broached a 3/8 hex...
So weird. Try moving the g18 after the m908 down to right after the t0505. See if that fixes it. Nothing else makes any sense. Put a () around that m1 right after the m908.

So it just so happens that I showed my machines to a guy today that runs tsugami and he said that it doesn't work also. Maybe that's only a Star Fanuc thing. Worth a call anyways. Let me know if you...
Well, to be fair you CAN do it. But you will get so discouraged that you will quit on the whole thing.
If you are in Oregon. Call Sue at Automatics. Tell her Ben at HSPM sent you. 800-543-7666

So, I understand where it looks like it stops, but your wait codes look fine. Usually the screen is a line or to ahead when it stops like that due to the way the nc buffers the code. Either it's...
Unless you know what you are doing you should probably stay away from that one. You can't run without a bar feeder. No matter what swiss you get. As for the presetter, you can't run swiss like a...
Switching to Edit mode is always followed by reset, but after that you can scroll down to any place you want and switch back to auto and run it from the cursor location. The trick is that you can't...
@DC If your Fanuc Control is forcing you to rewind to start no matter what, you need to check your keep relays. There is one just for this.
Just to get it out of the way, you don't have optional stop turned on on the machine do you?
Are you Turning Off the Coolant before broaching? Did you double check and make sure that the Broach head is set-up correctly? It's only supposed to be .001 out of TIR. Lastly I would stop pecking...
How far back are you holding it in the Sub spindle? The closer the better. What Diameter are you holding and What Size Collet are you using? Lastly 4140 sucks. My guess is you are seeing a...
Yikes. I'm gonna make this a lot easier for you. Firstly what control is it? It should support G120/G121 This make it easy. At setup you set your part length and then give the machine a G120. This...
To do what? Star's are all pretty much the same except for some minor things. If you're just wondering about codes Call Star and see if they can't get you a book. I bought a KNC and was able to...
Blaser Vascomill 22. Easily some of the best stuff out there for cutting oil and it doesn't stain the machines. It's veggie oil so no petroleum waste to worry about, and it doesn't lose viscosity as...
You Would need a machine with a B-axis attachment in order to follow that radius. B-axis allows the live tool to cut at any angle. Also you may need to have the surfacing option unlocked on your...
Arcs are simple in a lathe. Pick a direction (cw/ccw) and then what ever radius you want you move the same distance in z, add z to r and that's the distance to move in x. So if I want a .01 radius

I guess maybe if it was brass. I would rather not put that kind of stress on a machine that I would like to still be able to hold +/- .0001. Second OP is my advice but I'm no expert.

You can still G50W if you use G120. Do it every day.
Wait till you get G266 and G300 :)

I'm A Swiss guy so I'm used to Z+
And using W is absolutely easier than using Z. Lets say later that the 1" section at the front needs to move a little I can change the positioning Z number and...
Sorry everyone. Tapatalk went nuts.

Why are you turning so slow? What is the matl dia? You should be turning at more like .001- .0013 that's part of your problem. You are work hardening by going to slow.
