We'll be buying a THC in the next few days, but are still trying to decide which one to get. Our table is already up and moving using Mach3 (and we have 2 parallel ports installed - planning to use...
I understand CNCelectronics.com bought the LCTHC and several other hardware designs from CandCNC. Has anyone bought through CNCelectronics.com? What was your experience? How is the support?
Thanks!
There seems to be a need for kinematics coverage. Trying to use Motion Analysis (SolidWorks Premium required) to analyze forces is difficult to learn on your own, expensive (~$1k) to take a VAR...

The servo control basically has 3 parts (not counting the motor and encoder). First, there is a personal computer running Ubuntu Linux that runs EMC2, the brains of the system. The PC...
Are crosstalk and interference on the cable the main issues with the Pluto, or are there other problems I should look for as well (I've noticed problems with my power connector, but that can be...
I updated all the SW on my PC, but the problem was still there. I used the Ubuntu updater, so I got Axis 2.2.8. instead of 2.3.
I originally had MIN_FERROR set to 0.25 and FERROR set to 0.5...

Thanks for the reply. I had thought following error might be the issue, but I set FERROR to 0.5 in the .ini file, and I can make this happen by turning the servo less than 0.010 (sometimes it...
I'm finally getting back to trying to convert a 1986 Jetmatic CNC mill to EMC2 after a long absence. I was trying to do the conversion in the spirit of this thread (i.e., homebrew and on-the-cheap)....
I tried a 24V supply on the workbench and never lost communication with the Pluto, despite using a laptop in that config. It did exhibit the 50% problem, though.
The caps are metalized polyester...
It seems to happen right away - probably less than one second.

Thanks for the pointer to the inverse deadband component. I'll look this evening, and if it isn't in EMC I'll add it and try it. My estimate of 50% came from watching the PID bars in Axis and...
I finally finished building the H-bridges and the Pluto break-out-board (see photo).
The H-bridges stay very cool, but I seem to have two new problems...
First, the servos don't move until I...

I'm just getting back to this - had boards made so I didn't have all that spaghetti wire...
In looking at your schematic I see you used a pair of caps (0.1uF and 10uF) in parallel for the...
Maybe I'll have to spring for Eagle - it seems fairly popular. I used HiWire and OrCad eons ago, but last I checked OrCad was way beyond hobby prices.
Now I finally get it on the ir2111's. When...

Thanks for the reply! Your original thread:

is part of what inspired me to try this. Like you, I discovered the parport wasn't fast...
I'm restoring a 1986 model Jetmatic mill and using EMC2 to control it. I've installed and configured EMC2 using the Pluto-P as the interface. So far I've been able to accurately read the encoders to...
