  1. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

Yes. After it left Leyte Island it headed straight for North Cebu. The aftermath was life changing for me. Here is a youtube: OJoCqRetVhg

Anyway, back to the job on hand. Our partners in Germany...
  2. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

That statement is very relevant in what we have done here in the past and will do in the future, except sometimes we do have to give them fish, literally.
You, as a person who knows The Philippines,...
  3. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

Don, the proposed program is CAD/CAM as per heading of this thread. We also hope to put together a machine, and hopefully some students will be able to see and understand that.

    Re: When will "acorn" release?

:)Thank you Keith. Will be a while before we have our cnc machine, but I hope to have the classes up and running in the first half of next year. I do have a video on my dust separator with thien...
  5. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

Now that is another big statement that is not only totally incorrect, but slightly insulting. I am no expert on it, but I am sure most of us here could write a bit of code, run it on a RS Pi, and...

Thank you for your reply Keith. It is their youtube channel, and they can choose what they like to do with it. Having said that, disabling comments in youtube is seen by many as repressing negative...

    Re: When will "acorn" release?

Thank you for your reply, Marty. 'Considering' and 'curious' can sometimes mean the same thing. One can start off curious and then consider buying something. Also one can start off considering...
  8. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

Don't worry Switcher, this is for me, so I can get few months ahead before starting, and plan my course.
Besides a brief explanation of cnc and cam, I will be concentrating on making them proficient...

    Re: When will "acorn" release?

Everything seems to be gone quiet on the Acorn. I would have expected to have seen more postings and videos on youtube. Except for Marty & Franco there is nothing and the latter seems to be a...
  10. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

Yes Louie, I registered with them. Looks like a gold mine of information there, which I will look into later. Thank you for the link

I am watching a few videos from Lars Christensen atm. The loud...
  11. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

I will have a total different approach. I will have them drawing a solid block with extrusions on the first CAD class. Then I will move over and back to the history, the fundamentals, and a lot of...

Re: Planning to buy AccTek AKG6090

You may see in my other posts, Omio was on my radar. They look a well built machine, but the X8 2200L is very expensive, considering their no name electrics
  13. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

Exactly what I was thinking, Gerry. The migration from F360 to Solidworks or vice-versa should not be a big deal, and definitely not a deal breaker for our program.
  14. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

I am self thought on sketchup, and of course, find it easier than CAD beginers

Re: Planning to buy AccTek AKG6090

    Sure Chris
But I do not think the Chinese 6090 is that much better than the H 1000. I do know for a fact that their bearings are fake. I also know that the electronics are rubbish. It looks more...
  16. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

After a few hours in the CAM part, I was able to simulate the engraving of my daughters name. Yeeeeeeeeeee

  17. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

Thank you Louie. Fusion 360 has a library of components like machined screws etc etc
After a few hours of playing around I was able to make objects fit together etc.

Re: Planning to buy AccTek AKG6090

To say not to buy round rails is a very bold statement. Almost all Hobby machines have linear supported round rails. The extra cost for square/flat rails and blocks is substantial if say you use...
  19. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

Thank you again for your thorough answers and observations.

Firstly, the students will have already left high school. Trying to teach students still attending high school is fraught with red tape...

Re: Purchase CNC from XYZ Tech for my Friend

I see she was posting (advertising) further back in the thread, I am presuming the only way to get a quality machine is to build it yourself from genuine parts.
  21. Re: Did anyone buy machine from Jinan Apex Company ? I need your guide

This thread looks decidedly commercial from bottom to top. :)
  22. Re: Teaching CAD/CAM to the poor in The Philippines

Thank you for your two replies. Your points have given me plenty to think about.

There are many hurdles and constraints in this proposed project, and it most certainly will not be anything like...

Re: Planning to buy AccTek AKG6090

Square or flat versus round is what the say here,
Looking at the price of Hiwin guideways and blocks, it is $300+ per axis. That is $900 - $1,000 before you even buy the ballscrews. Buy the...

Re: Gantry construction: steel vs. aluminum?

I can only presume it was lost in translation.
Maybe he meant the Hiwin rails and bearings. What size have you ordered? 35mm? or 25mm?
Do you have 2 balls screws on the long axis?

Re: V-CARVE PRO for a Newbie?

Fusion is also free to institutions and charities like ours who...
