Re: Tipped over PCNC 440… ????

by the sound of it the mill itself was protected from any impact , if the axis move freely then throw in a program you've run before and run it . You can pull out the dials and run a bunch of tests...

    Re: Retrofitting 770 motor to a 440?

glockcnc has a 1200w bd setup which should be plug and play , if the shaft size for the pulley and mount holes match . I've got one squirreled away here somewhere , it takes a while to get a motor...
  5. Re: Emco Compact 5 CNC lathe with tool changer - LINUX CNC, opto isolated parallel po

I haven't had my lathe apart to verify but it sounds like the motors are connected to unipolar drivers
  6. Re: PathPilot compatible touchscreen (Same model as Tormach touch screen) for $149.99

you don't need to do anything in regard to drivers .
Try unplugging the usb cable , wait a moment then plug it back in , then calibrate . Thats a problem that I had with the monoprice touch screens...

  9. Re: Best way to waste a section of an end mill?

your like an ol crow pecking at the empty eye socket of a dead horse .

    Re: SUPPLY CHAIN PROBLEMS

I'm not going to disagree with you by any means . Every country has something to offer and everyone can prosper and live a good life . It's the bad part of humanity that prevents this happening . ...

The problem is that the people are still poor . The government is in full control of the money and they are keeping their own people poor . The wealth has benefited many but for the population it has...

    Re: SUPPLY CHAIN PROBLEMS

the 20% tax was a political ploy
unfortunately I believe heavy tariffs is the right way . I can buy a pair of jeans now for much less than I did 40 years ago . We have grown accustomed to buying...
  17. Re: Is this a good deal on a stepper driver?

on the other hand they have some with really good specs , but I agree that a guy needs to be cautious in his choices . I replace my torus pro motors with some I got from them and the performance...
  18. Re: Best way to waste a section of an end mill?

I was taking about the tool being set into the holder by some crib monkey , isn't that what you were talking about ? And a machinist is not allowed to change it in any way ? Thats not a machinist ,...
  19. Re: Best way to waste a section of an end mill?

For the most part it's about having the right length cutter for the job . To use mactech's terms , grinding a relief is a hack , but is often enough a necessary hack . Too much unnecessary stick out...
  20. Re: Best way to waste a section of an end mill?

carbide dust and the dust from grinding wheels are very abrasive which isn't good for your slides or any moving parts
  21. Re: PathPilot compatible touchscreen (Same model as Tormach touch screen) for $149.99

    right on .
I bought one thinking it would be a turd at that price but right after I plugged it in I bought a couple more
  22. Re: Is this a good deal on a stepper driver?

the leadshine ma840h is a decent driver and has been changed to ma840e . I don't know how much I'd trust them on ali . They aren't going to be leadshine but for the price you can't go too far wrong ...
  23. Re: Best way to waste a section of an end mill?

Honestly that would be what I'd consider a hack shack . When a guy is making $100k+ parts the last thing he needs is someone else's error ruining a job because he didn't set the tool properly ....
  24. Re: Best way to waste a section of an end mill?

minimal needs to come off the diameter , it's only clearance . You'll want to take a bit off the flute and you'll want to back taper the top of the flute as well , otherwise your grind may cause...
  25. Re: Best way to waste a section of an end mill?

That would be to say that a weldon which is far more ground on one side would absolutely destroy a spindle . Never seen it , nor have I seen a hand ground relief destroy a spindle . I've worked in...

    Re: Va-40 pull stud question

For what the studs are worth I'd replace them all with new . They are...
  29. Re: Best way to waste a section of an end mill?

a bench grinder and a silicon carbide wheel is all you need to grind some relief
  30. Re: PathPilot compatible touchscreen (Same model as Tormach touch screen) for $149.99

nothing can get messed up really . Aside from the power cord you will need the usb cable since they don't supply those , but those are a dime a dozen . Calibrate and you should be good to go
