What do you mean by BoB? You have to look at the hypertherm manual for the torch fire pins, and as long as you are using a machine torch you can short those pins together to fire.

To keep everything clean!
Juuuust kidding, it seems to work for a while as a rust inhibitor, it does deactivate though and will leave a white residue on your steel, but for the 5 bucks or so, I...
Doesnt that cause the torque to drop off real fast at higher rpm?
How are you holding down that piece of Balsa? And what controller software are you running there?
Thanks Jim
Iwas aware of the ESAB plasma, but never really looked too far into them seeing as the hypertherm is apparently 1 million times better according to.. everyone I have talked to about it....
We picked up a Fanuc ArcMate 120iL welder from a surplus supplier and I have a few problems with it.
Problem 1, no manuals or software.
This SHOULDNT be a issue, but im sure anyone that has...
At work were looking at a ESAB avenger machine, and I am wondering if anyone knows if you can change out the plasma system for the Hyperthem HPR800XD, and how much modification is necessary.. Has...
I would also like to have this for a rack and pinion, but its just so damn expensive:

Thats true I suppose but you have to gear it in order to do a rotating nut, of course you could gear it 1:1 but you could also tweak it to whatever gearing you wanted. I personally would like to see...
Is there a somewhat easy way of calculating how much loss you would have?
I would suspect that a rotating nut would be FAR superior to a rotating screw just because you dont have the weight of the...
OR you could just use a rotating nut geared down, which is way less load on the motor.
Hi,
I havent been on this forum for a while.. been distracted by other projects that are a far cry from CNC stuff, but the rotating ballnut idea was the last place I left off and the first place I...
So what was the verdict on sodium nitrite? I guess it becomes a carcinogen when its vaporized but does it settle and is it any worse than cutting with a plasma without a water table? I litterally...
i know, i just figured in case someone else has issues.. that should stop the jerking because its reacting too fast.. unless you figured out what it was and it was something else..
Turn your Z acceleration way down..
It seems to be pausing.. I cannot actually see it but I see it in the cuts afterward.. There are lines where its sat just that little bit longer than it should have..
Im not sure which options...
So no video's again.. but more problems..
All in all things are getting better as we go.. still have to run the machine slower than I would like but its still pretty fast.
First, Im having problems...
Thanks for the input.. i am using lead in's and lead outs..
I don't seem to be having a grounding problem, even tho I need to have a good grounding setup as soon as I can.
its not a mark, I think...
Hi Guys,
So its all back together and running again!
The best part? The cuts are REALLY nice compared to before.
As it stands there is only 5" of travel, I am now agreeing with everyone that there...
Thanks for the idea Jeff.. I do have gears and belts, just dont have a lathe or mill unfortunately.. thats something that I really want, specially if I do well enough running this to build another...
Go again another day goes by without pictures.. messed with it all day long, had a bearing for the touch off setup and.. it came apart in my truck so i spent a while TRYING to get it back together.....
Another thing is what is he relay your trying to drive and whats your power supply?
You need to roughly match your power supply voltage to your relay, in my case i have a 48v power supply and...
Well.. did you goto ports and pins and set the relays to the same output your trying to drive?
So I didnt take any pictures again.. but what im finding is that:
1) the motors are mostly causing the vibration, it seems to happen as they change direction, engage or disengage.. the steps feel...
I think that at maximum height i will still get the cantilever effect because its so tall.. its about 24" offset from the bearing.. i feels like its a software thing after messing with it all day...
I think i understand what you mean.. It does seem like that would tell me if cutting it down would work exept I dont know if that would really give me a good idea of what will happen with a cut down...
Jeff,
My settings look pretty similar to yours..
Im attaching the Gcode, its not the exact one im cutting but its damn near.. the only difference is pierce heights, etc.
Im pretty sure its just...
I would hguess you got this worked out by now but..
F###, in your case F1 is the feedrate when you use G1, G0 is a rapid movement so the feedrate doesnt actually affect that.
S500 is spindle...
I dunno if you solved this but the main thing (after of course enabling the pin in ports and pins) is going into the spindle setup and making sure that pwm base freq is low, i use like 7 -9 and that...
I don't totally get it I dont think.. you mean across the gantry support rails and supporting the torch? If you can give me a drawing (even in paint) I could probably see what your getting at..
