Re: My new machine desing, "CNM13"

You're right :) Let's call THIS model finished. (Some parts are already marked CNM15, which is the next design I'm working on....)
I'll take a break building the machine and actually use it for a...

    Re: Grounding....how important is it?

Ground is important because you want zero volts and amps between earth/ground (on where you are standing) and equipment chassis's etc..
If you can measure volts/amps between earth and equipment...

    Re: 3D cut problem

    Ok, sorry :)
Try maybe 30ipm. If it's smoother then you might have some vibrations..
Also try pushing/pulling on the spindle. If it flexes, you need to go slower. If you have a dial indicator, you...

No problem, my fault, didn't check the area...
The Z axis is an AL profile.. I had that design on a previous design, wasn't rigid enough.. It was 2 x 90x45mm heavy duty profiles.
    What feed & RPM...

    Re: DC Brushless servo judder

It sounds like a tuning problem to me. Yours have pots only? Try adjusting the balance & gain too. I would start with the gain.

Re: My new machine desing, "CNM13"

After some troubleshooting, I got the servo drive working :)
    - The problem was between the LPT Port & servo drive. It has twisted pair wiring but still the drive got extra input "ghost pulses"....

Got the A axis servo installed to the cyclo gear box. Did some testing and I noticed the servo runs/creeps SLOW when it should hold position.

Re: why is active high safer (limit switches)

At power loss/fail, for example a photocell won't "output" anything, no matter if its NPN or PNP.
I would wire a relay for example to "monitor" power. Power on = relay on; power off = relay off.

Try the "Filled Surface" command. Sometimes it works sometimes not.. If not try to trim and then fill.

Re: why is active high safer (limit switches)

There's no difference in a semi-conductor active low or active high (NPN vs PNP). If it fails/breaks, there's no difference -> both types won't output a signal.
    If you have...

0x378 is for your COM port, check the LPT port address in device manager.

  25. Re: Ethernet Smooth Stepper Too Sensitive? Throwing Stop errors?

A cap will work. But if you use Mach3 as the controller you simply set the debounce setting (adjustable) for the exact same effect. It will filter out short pulses.

Re: G Code for a eagle

You need CAM software.. ArtCAM as an example will do bitmaps.
Even if you would find some g-code, it might be for a different tool & wrong dimensions.

    Re: Aluminium build, need advice.

The spindle power depends on what you cut with the machine. If it's rigid and uses lots of cutting force you need a powerful spindle.
My machine is "semi-rigid" AL frame and I have a 1.1kW spindle....
