benny992 do you have a breakout board on this setup. you my not be sending a signal to the drivers to tell them to move the motors
I have the same tuurret that Boatlover has that he posted pictures of
316410316412316414
looks like a ratchet paw with homeing switch
Sam I looked at it and the denford orac lathe atc one looks promising.
I may have to update my version of linuxcnc. the version I'm running I got back in 2006
I also looked thru the linuxcnc forum didn't see a whole lot of info on this.
It's been awhile since I set up my mill and I don't know how much I remember
So I'm going to have to dust off some...
thanks for the macro.
do you know if this works in linuxcnc
this is what it looks like
316090
it has 8 positions 4 o.d. tools 4 i.d. tools
Don't know how it locks in place
I have set up my little spectralight mill using Linuxcnc. Just looking for someone that has setup a prolight lathe so I can see what they did so Idon't have to start from scratch.
I have had this lathe for so time. I been wanting to get it running but life has a way of getting in the way of such things. Looks like I will soon have enough money set a side for this.
My question...
take a look at this mill on ebay
5400 Sherline Spectralight CNC Milling Machine with TB6560 Controller | eBay
things are starting to look expensive. it's either the drives or the card in the computer and if you doing this for your school I don't think you have a lot of money for parts or converting to other...
You now know the the mill is ok . You didn't say if you checked the fuses on the back of the black box. Do you have a multi meter to check them. Did you have the original cable that came with it.
Have you tried taking the steppers off (leaving the wires attached) and see if they will turn using the software or even by hand
Harryn
there is a magnetic interlock on the lid. if the lid isn't shut the spindle won't run.
Nth
have you seen what Shannon_Haworth is doing with a spectralight mill his web site http://build.spaceopera.org/site/ maybe he can be of some help
kevin
Nth I have a prolight 1000 mill that I haven't gotten it running yet. so I can't help You on some of your questions I don't have the tool changer on mine. I would like to see your pinouts on the...
I don't think it would be out more than .002 or .003 for a plate that size. And I always machined fixture plates in place if they need to be flat and square to the Z axis. I work in a machine shop...
cut the spindle speed to around 25-35 sfm and reduce feed rate to find the rpm (sfm X 4 /endmill dia.)
kevin
I'm assuming you have the key also and it's unlocked. I used EMC2 on a spectralight mill I did it doesn't need as new of a computer
I tried it with the G91 on my spectralight mill setup it didn't like it wouldn't load
changed to G90 It loaded and I can see the tool path
Kevin
try changing the G91 to G90
Kevin
TitaniumCannons did you get the mill and is it running ?
Kevin
I agree with Scott Your G code looks right.
I look at
1. if the stock is flat
2. is the z axis loosing steps
Kevin
Tony
I wouldn't upgrade it right now.
As for cad/cam software take a look at cambam they have a free version that you can learn on. save your money for tooling and measuring tools.
I'd start out...
thanks for the reply mpictor
I emailed them still waiting for a reply
my real problem was with the power supply I had the AC set for 220 not 110 like it was wired for:nono:. the rapid rates are...
the problem was me.:( I forgot to check the setting on the power supply when I was wiring everything. the switch was on 220v not 110v that I wired it for.:nono: Now it rapids a lot faster.
So...
I would shorten up the parting tool blade to just enough to part off the part.
you may have to use the steadyrest to support the part when you are machining it. you may want to try only drilling and...
I'm been trying to get a spectralight mill running using the original stepper motors with a mechatronics driver board a 24v power supply and using emc2 on an old computer. Got everything working but...
when you get sparks like that the sharp edge is gone and you have a very ragged edge left. To machine something like this I would use a carbide tool at those rpm's
I would use indexing head to rotate the part instead of 3d contouring search on youtube you might get sum ideas
