  1. Re: Encoder/servo selection for a Robotool centroid retrofit

Well I finally got some time to start looking at this again. Got out to check on the transformer and it seems to have two taps that output 36v and 72v respectively. The way I understand it that would...

Hey there, I realize this is an older thread, but were you able to get rid of the oscillation?

    Re: Drawing Help

Think of the door as two parts. The first part is the door panel with the second being the window frame. I would start by doing a sketch of the doors (bend) side view. That will give you the general...

Re: New drivers for old fanuc dc servos

You could look at the CNCdrive DG4S-16035. Its rated closer to the voltage rating of the 10M.

Look at any support bearings maybe? Bad bearings can make all kinds of noise.

EDIT: Jim was quicker on the draw :o

    Re: Need more speed

I have no experience with those particular chinese servos. Based on past experience with a few chinese steppers/servos though, their documentation and support is nearly non existent. I would be...

    Re: Need more speed

Is this what you are looking for Jim? This is from the DMM DST manual.

An interesting exercise would be to use a 1:1 pulley/belt and see how long it actually took to accelerate to 400 IPM. Ramp up...

    Re: Need more speed

90v DC PSU could be an issue. Seems like thats pretty low voltage when your motors can handle 140v and your drives are rated up to 170v.
  9. Re: Are Chinese servos a gamble? Servos vs Leadshine closed loop

It may be worth talking to DMM and seeing what they recommend. They have been very helpful the last couple times I called about their Servo/drives.
  10. Re: Stuff to get up and running with 3 x 0.75kw kit? + Question

You probably already saw this post, but LtDan put together a pretty comprehensive list of the components needed in a DMM DYN4 servo setup. Thats definitely been an assist to me in planning out my...
  11. Re: Are Chinese servos a gamble? Servos vs Leadshine closed loop

I think Mactec is referring to the DMM tech encoders 16bit (65,536 ppr) vs the 2500 ppr chinese product.

However if it really is almost twice as expensive, I guess you have to evaluate what tech...
  12. Re: Are Chinese servos a gamble? Servos vs Leadshine closed loop

The dmm tech 400w servo and a dyn2 drive come in at around $285, thats around the same price as the chinese servo systems. I would tend to trust a brand that provides warranty and documentation on...
  13. Re: Encoder/servo selection for a Robotool centroid retrofit

Is it reasonable to assume the old transformer and rectifier are outputting the approximately 63 vDC required to run the drives/servos? or did the old servo amps/power board alter the voltage in any...

How would you go about calculating the potential IPM a system could have given a certain amount of torque/rpm from motors and at least knowing the weight of the carriage/cross slide you are pushing?...

  16. Re: Encoder/servo selection for a Robotool centroid retrofit

So i'm trying to figure out how I want to power the servos on this retrofit. The machine currently seems to use a transformer (Western Magnetics NX-189) and then rectifier. The from the manual the...

Re: VFD Recommendations for Robotool retrofit

That should work then, I may play around with my VFD settings and see if I can shave a second or two off without stressing the motor, but thats not a priority.

How would that apply to dynamic braking? If using an external braking resistor could I get it down to a lower RPM (maybe 300-400 RPM?) using dynamic braking...

Dan the Lenze manual I was just reading through gave a decent summery. I would advise looking through your specific VFD manual and see how they suggest managing the braking.

    VFD Recommendations for Robotool retrofit

HI all, I am looking for some solid VFD recommendations for a retrofit I am planning out. I wouldn't mind learning a bit about whats important to have in a VFD as well. From what I have read it seems...
  24. Re: Encoder/servo selection for a Robotool centroid retrofit

Those are cool little encoders, I will have to look into them for future projects. At this point I have a few AMT113Q-V encoders coming in I plan on testing out. They should be drop in (hole spacing)...
  25. Re: Encoder/servo selection for a Robotool centroid retrofit

So I pulled the cap off the top of one of the servos and found something kinda interesting about the encoders on this machine. Looks like they are Broadcom HEDS-5500 A06. Resolution is a little low...
