    Re: Mach4+ESS or Acorn?

My understanding is that the Acorn does not work the same as the ESS or CNC Drive controllers.
I beleive the Acorn does the trajectory planning in hardware, rather than in software like all the...
  3. Sticky: Re: Router Bits and EndMills: Pictures, Descriptions, and Uses

Looks like it's just pocketed. In that case, use the largest straight bit that will give you the detail you need in the letters. This may require a very small bit, which can take a lot of time. You...

I'm using relay boards like this.

    Re: Picking a stepper motor

Oriental Motor (Vexta) is one of the top brands.
Most people buy no brand Chinese steppers, as they tend to be much cheaper, and still perform well.

I posted a link to your post on the JointCAM forum. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Re: AVID CNC PRO 48x48 Purchase (Mach 4 Concerns)

I wouldn't worry about it, as Avid will provide excellent support for it.
There are probably well over 100,000 Mach3 users, and anyone that's used both will tell you that Mach4 is much better....

    Re: Mach4+ESS or Acorn?

Depends on the programs. There are cabinet programs that can generate g-code themselves.
But you'll still need a machine control program.

    Re: enroute and aspire

What are you expecting to do?
Does your Cabinet Solutions export .dxf files and a cutlist or parts file (CSV)?
I believe that the Pro version of Enroute can work with that much better than Aspire....

    Re: ESS MB3 Index homing

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Mach4 homing.
But I would think to home with both a switch an index pulse, you'd need a custom homing script?

    Re: enroute and aspire

Enroute comes in different versions, with different levels of features. Enroute Pro is much more powerful than Aspire, but costs more than 3x as much. They also have a subscription for $1100/year....

    Re: ESS MB3 Index homing

Are you using Mach3 or Mach4?
What do you have the index assigned to?
In Mach3, once it backs off the home switch, it's homed, and won't move to the index pulse.
Not sure if mach4 can use both.

Re: "equal to" operator not working in script

The scripting Mach3 uses, Cypress Enable, is a little different than VB, which is why I added the Format above. The Format returns a string, so you'd need a different function to get rid of the...

Re: "equal to" operator not working in script

Try something like this, to see what the actual value of A is.

    A2 = FormatNumber(A,15)
    MsgBox (A2)

    EDIT
Looks like it might need to be:
    A2 = Format(A, ##0.000000000000000000)
  20. Re: Gecko G540 or New Individual 32 bit DSP Digital Drivers?

I'd get the DM556's, but I'd also find higher current, lower inductance motors. A 5 amp motor of similar size should outperform a 3.5amp motor by a good margin.

But, if it were me, I'd spend...

    Re: UCCNC + UB1

No, the LED's are powered by the UB1, and should flash when steps are sent to the drives. I believe they should "flicker" when steps are being sent to the drives.

I'd never buy a box, but I guess you'd want space for up to 5 drives?
Voltage depends on the motors, but 60V minimum.

Re: constant stopping for no reason

Mach3's debounce settings are for the parallel port only.

The Smoothstepper has it's own noise filtering, which he used.
