Re: Taig CNC Mill Leadscrew nut?

Note that Taig laps the screws and nuts together so you might be better off to replace the two at the same time:

I thought I read they were using an ethernet Mesa card with the breakout board in the computer control cabinet. I could be mistaken though.

    Re: Homing Changes

Did you verify the probe setup after you switched to 2.0? Effective diameter, calibration etc... Depending on how you did the upgrade, those values could have been lost.

Look for parabolic flute drill bits. They do a better job of clearing chips.

    Re: G84 tapping glitch??!

I was curious and I checked the documentation. (7.4.6 Tapping Cycle – G84 in the Series 3 manual). It says the same thing as Mactec. The Mach canned cycle probably had a shortcut for it..

Re: Bad face mill finish. Profile is perfect

Your test is too vague to isolate the issue. All your test proves is that there is a problem between the spinny bits of the spindle and the housing. If there is a locking key for the toolholder,...

To me there is way too much distance between your X and Y rails. They should be as close together as possible for maximum rigidity.

  20. Re: Fixed Gantry Router with HSK-E25 ATC for under $25K

I don't see how you are going to do rigid tapping with a router spindle. Once you get down to rigid tapping speeds, you won't have a whole lot of power left. You might be able to rigid tap small...

Is the backlash the same across the travel? If not perhaps you re-fixture the parts so that the critical feature is on a good part of the screw.
