    Angry Multicam 3000 2005 machine Teknic SST-1500-561

Hello, I was wondering if anyone else received a call from Multicam East today? They told me that the Teknic Drives that Control the servo motors would not be made anymore or serviced. (There are 4 in this machine.)
Basically starting in March 2022 the only way if I had a problem would be to update the whole control box for around $20,000.00 dollars.
These drives usually go for around $1200.00 dollars a pc programed.
I asked them if I bought a bunch of these if there would be a way to program for each servo motor axis as needed?
They said they would get back to me on that.
Anyone familiar with these Teknic drives and what can I do to keep this machine running without paying over $20,000 if I run into a bad drive?
    Thank you
    Jimmy

You have a lot of options that don't include Multicam. Sounds like they are trying to sell upgrades by scaring the customers.

DMM and Delta servos are a direct replacement, and the Teknik ClearPath product line will also replace them. It is also possible that Teknik also has a direct replacement. Setting up new servos is a bit of a PITA when hampered by the Multicam software, but it is doable, I have done it.

If it were my machine, at the first sign of servo problems, I would rip out everything that says Multicam on it and do a full upgrade, and it would cost a heck of a lot less than $20K, including all new servos.

If you really want to go cheap, hybrid steppers from eBay would work just fine.

    Hi,
the only problem with Teknics is that they are expensive for what you get.

    Look at this, a 1.5kW Delta B2 servo/drive and cables for $750:

That's less than you'd pay for a Teknics drive alone. If you want value for money these 750W Delta B2 series servo/drive and cables for $438:

Multicam told you kind of half the story, Teknics is phasing out those drives but they have not yet. They will keeping building drives until all the parts required to build those drives run out.

Give Motioin Solutions a call 949-699-6431 they are the only distributor for Teknics drives

    Hi Jim

My Multicam machine has been "broken" for six weeks now (XA drive to high supply voltage blink code 3) and even though i allready forked out and paid the local agent (South Africa) for a new drive, week by week they (Multicam USA according to local guy) change their story and yesterday they basically said, sorry no drives available (and i hope to get my money back). We did multitude of swaps and tests etc to deduct that that particular servo drive is faulty and not the motor or cable.

PLEASE advice me how to do the drive swapp out you mentioned above. I am getting "desperate"

    Kind regards Johan

Hello! My boss is changing the business and take down the Multicam 3000. He is selling the 4 Teknic SST-1500-561 drivers. If you are still looking for that I'll be in contact.
