    Question Y axis offsetting itself at each depth pass ?

    Hello,

    I need a bit of help to troubleshoot a problem I am encountering. I have built a 3 axis router type CNC running with LinuxCNC, it's really a XYZ traditional router.

    When I try to cut my table out of an aluminium plate, I have a strange offset that occur at the back of the cut, on the Y axis. Each deeper pass make it more offset, so I end up with the back of the table tapered.

    Where I don't get it, is that this only occur at the back, the front of the table stay good. If I had a problem with my Y axis missing step, I guest I would have the problem on each side, the whole Y axis would be wrong, right ?

    The CN code is right, basically my front table cut occurs at Y=2 and the back cut at Y=252. Y=2 seem to stay good but Y=252 offset further and further at each pass..

    Can someone give me advice about where I should investigate ? It's my first CNC.

    I have done a simple test, I have written a simple GCODE file where I mark down a point at Y10 then another one at Y240. Then I make 10 back and forth travel between those points and mark them down again.

    The result is that both points are about +2mm further on the Y after the travels.. I really don't understand from where it can come.

    Any ideas ?

    Post what you were trying to use, it does not sound right, what is the size of your plate that you want to machine and how thick is it

    Just a simple sketch of the Tabletop and how thick it is, and I will give you some code

    Here I did not machined anything. I have just marked the plate with a pen. I wanted to ensure that it was not related to a strenght/power problem.

    You should never have a X Y and Z move in the same line, at the end of the program also, always move the Z axis first I'm not sure what you are trying to do with this program

    Have you got wear compensation active for the tool ie 0.0001" per cycle?

    Or thermal compensation?

    You still have the Z axis on the same line as the X and Y moves, you need to change this before you have a crash

    Ok I see what you were doing now, I should have read it better, it seems it is an electronic timing Step problem what is your control Breakout Board and motors and Drives
