    HY VFD - Error code E.oL.n

    Hi Everyone, I have an error code coming up on my HY VFD....typical I cant find this error in the manual or online anywhere??

    the code is "E.oL.n" and it stops the spindle when it comes up, I need to push the stop button to reset and then press start again.

    I have double checked my wiring, gone through the settings on the VFD and they are all to the suppliers specification, its driving me nuts not having a reliable spindle, I'm hovering my finger over the pause button for the entire job just in case.

    has anyone else experienced this? or have any clue to the meaning - I'm guessing "Electrical over load" or something?

    thanks,
    Adam

    The supplier most likely has the wrong setting for your setup

    So what is the spindle motor spec's ???

    What Parameters have you set ???

    How have you wired the input power supply to the VFD Drive and what is the voltage of your main supply

    Don't run it until we have figured it out or you could do some damage

    Re: HY VFD - Error code E.oL.n

    Thanks for the reply mactec54, and thanks for your help!

    Motor spec is 1.5kw water cooled spindle - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000...5d364c4dmk3hYv
    I cant seem to find any decent spec document on the spindle other than what's listed on the aliexpress listing.
    I'm in Australia so my voltage is 240v

    I have also included a pic with diagram on how it is wired - please note, shielding on spindle cable is wired back to earth, and is connected on spindle end the the jacket of the plug only, but not wired into spindle.

    Also you will see I have a 10A fuse wired in line with the active.

    Took me awhile to get all the settings - I went through and wrote them all down, see below:

    Sorry, I just realized I listed neutral wired to "S" but it is wired to "T" sorry for any confusion.

    Re: HY VFD - Error code E.oL.n

    Also i just found my printed manual! - the digital copy does not show E.oL.n but the printed one does

    it states:
    Inverter overload 150% Per minute
    1.Check whether the capacity of the inverter is lower, Otherwise is should be increased

    Reply - it is a 1.5kw spindle and 1.5kw VFD - should be ok??

    2.Check whether there is any jamming in the mechanical load

    Reply - Error can occur when spinning in free air - i cant find and jamming in motion?

    3.The setting of V/F curve is bad, Set it again.

    Reply - Unsure how to do this.

    Yes R and T Plus Ground / Earth is correct for this VFD Drive

    Your 10Amp fuse is way to small you need a minimum of 20Amp to run this VFD Drive and spindle

    Also check the spindle connection your connections may be bad as well in the Plug, check the the 4th pin in the plug Ground has continuity, if not you will have to remove the top cap and connect the Ground / Earth

    Those Parameters are not suitable, you will have to do a factory Reset as your Parameters are not correct

    These are the only Parameters you have to set

    Huanyang Mactec54
    1.5Kw 220v 400Hz Water Cooled

    PD000=0 ( 0 For Parameter unlock ) ( 1 For Locked )

    PD001=0 (1 For Remote Control)

    PD002=0 ( 1 For 0-10v Terminal Control or Remote Trim Pot Control )
    ( J1 Also Needs to be set for Remote Terminal Control 1-2 jumper connection )

    PD003=400

    PD004=400

    PD005=400

    PD006=140

    PD007=20

    PD008=220 (Motor Rated Voltage )

    PD009=77

    PD010=11

    PD011=120 ( 100 Minimum Setting )

    PD013= 08 (is for Factory reset, Only use this to set VFD to Factory Default Settings )

    PD014=8 ( Acceleration Adjust to suit)

    PD015=8 ( Deceleration Adjust to suit)

    PD023=0 ( Forward Run Only )

    PD041=8 ( Carrier Frequency up to 10 Max for these Spindle motors)

    PD120=120 ( Stall Prevention )

    PD141=220 ( Motor Rated Voltage )

    PD142=7

    PD143=2 ( Motor Number of Poles)

    PD144=3000 (Max Motor RPM) 3,000= (24,000)

    PD070=0 ( This may need to be set to 1 if Control Voltage is 0-5v )

    PD072=400

    PD073=120 ( 100 Minimum RPM Setting )

    PD174= ??? ( To Be Set to the VFD Drives Max Rated Output Amps )

    Re: HY VFD - Error code E.oL.n

    Hi Mactec54,
    I have tried the settings, and whilst it does seem to make the spindle run much better than it did before I still got the E.oL.n error.

    This time though while it ran I saw fluctuations in the speed of the spindle before the error appeared, it slowed down for a little bit, tried to ramp back up then the error appeared??
    I hope something isn't damaged as its only about 1/2 year old.

    when the fluctuations occurred you could see the Hz change on the VFD screen.

    I did check all the connections, but I think ill buy new power wire and re-wire the power back into the VFD and redo all connections to the spindle to eliminate any chance of that being the culprit.

    fingers crossed there is a solution, I really don't want to buy a new VFD or spindle.

    thanks very much for the help you have given so far.

    Run lighter cuts and see if that helps

    The error is low voltage, or a wiring problem, your supply is not large enough, a minimum of 20Amp supply circuit, is required to run these spindles, wiring to suit, if it can't get enough juice then it will fail, running with those Parameters set, could have done some damage, this could well be a VFD Drive problem as well so lots of different things can cause these problems, the main one though is the Power supply, if you can measure this when the spindle is working, it may tell you what is going on

    Is the cable from the spindle to the VFD Drive 4 wire Shielded cable ??? this is the ideal cable to use, IGUS CF6-10-04

    Unfortunately the error is occurring when the spindle is spinning in free air, so cant get much lighter cuts than that haha.

    I have got a equivalent VFD cable (4 wire shielded) to what you suggested, just a different brand.

    I'll rewire it all over the next day or so and see. fingers crossed.

    If you were to guess, excluding the Power requirements and wiring, would you say the VFD is the issue? just looking to see how much a replacement VFD will cost if I do need to replace. or would you say its more likely the spindle?
    I realize that's a hard one to establish without being able to diagnose the problem exactly, I'm just forward planning as i have a job to cut on it within a few weeks.

    Once again, I really appreciate all the help you have given so far.

    You can test the DC Bus voltage with the VFD Drive powered up, look for the +/- on the control terminals, make sure your meter is set to VDC for this.

    Do not check the output voltage unless you have a low pass filter in the multimeter, most cheap meters can not be used for measuring the output of the VFD Drive.

    How have you Grounded the shield ??? this has to be done correctly, as this can cause problems also.

    You can test the spindle pins with a multimeter they should be very close to the same across each pair.

    Pin 1 to Pin 2=

    Pin2 to Pin3=

    Hey Mactec54, yes the shield is grounded and I created a diagram to explain how its was done, I was told this is the correct method.

    on a positive note, I thought id go and factory reset the VFD this morning and put all the settings in again just in case I made a mistake, and I have not been able to get it to fault!
    I'll test it every day for a week before I start any jobs but it seems to be running well for the moment.

    I still plan on rewiring everything again to be sure.
    fingers crossed its resolved!

    Thanks again,
    Adam.

    If the Shield is clamped by the plug body then that would be correct, the other end though is not correct, snips of how it should be connected, a shield should be connected directly to the Ground plane, your method is used by many but is not correct. the way you have it would not of caused the problem you have.

    Yes sometimes a factory reset does not reset all the Parameters the first time, or you may have not put in ( 1 ) of the Parameters correct
