Found my original G0704 control box if interested. It's the original before they ran into problems with them. Worked perfect for me.

Guys - How tight is everyone tightening the jam nuts? I have a problem with the Z axis where if i tighten the jam nuts too much, i get serious wobble (like .250) on the screw. Also on the instructions it shows hoss add AC, top endcap, .025 shim, AC, jam and another jam nut, but on the video it shows AC, .025 shim, endcap, .025 shim, a (washer?) and then two jam nuts. Which is correct?

    Use both shims.

Thanks hoss... Also, how tight should the jam nuts be? should the first one be very tight and the other finger tight or what?

    Re: Hoss's G0704

tighten the first so it spins freely with no slop and jam the second with the first careful not to overtighten the first, usually takes a few times to get it right.

    Re: Hoss's G0704

Got it. Thanks again hoss!Should there be any side to side play from the endcap to the screw? I found that to eliminate that play, I had to tighten the jam nuts to a point that the ballscrew didn't want to move

    Re: Hoss's G0704

likely from the ac bearing which is a tiny bit smaller in diameter than the pocket, a thin strip of shim around it will solve that.

    bgriggs your inbox is full.
The air cylinder is 3.950 inches in diameter which would be the widest part so if you have 2 inches clearance from the center of the drawbar to the motor it should fit.

Sadly I only have about 1 1/2" clearance towards the column. The sides are clear but not the back.

Has anybody come across an interesting pocket on their saddle? Is it a defect or intentional modification for the cnc conversion?

Hoss, can you give me a rough idea of the length and depth of your new chip tray. I am going to make one this weekend.
