    Hypertherm HPR260XD / machine advise

    Hi everyone,

I wonder if anyone may have been through this process and have some advice.

I am looking to purchase a HD Plasma system and machine shortly, and I think we have settled on Hypertherm HyPerformance HPR260XD as the plasma unit.

My query really is based here in the UK which manufacturers should I be looking at.
So far I've only looked at the Esprit Lightning HD which I am fairly sure is the machine I want.

Any advice or feedback from anyone who has bought or used this machine or others I should check out would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have an idea of how much gas it's going to use up?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Neil

    Hi,
I have worked on the Esprit machines that have been installed in the US.
They are very well built industrial quality machines, and they use the Hypertherm Edge Pro CNC Controls.
I would not hesitate to deal with them.
I repair/rebuild cutting machines in the US and I have been here for almost 20 years.
Im not sure what other choices you have in the UK, but Esprit would be a good one.

It is a good system, even Hypertherm use the Esprit machines in the European Tech centre.

The gas usage will depend on the materials and thickness's you want to cut, I'd recommend the autogas over the manual gas setup.

+1 on the answer regarding thickness and materials. A general rule of thumb would be a worse case scenario of using 600CFH of gas consumption volume. That's a combined volume of cut gas/shield gas.
How much gas you keep on hand is a function of how much cutting you're doing. If you're cutting with shop air, then you need to factor in how much the plasma system needs plus how much is being consumed by the rest of the shop.

For machine manufacturers in the UK you could also look at Messer and Esab.

They supply the UK, but do not manufacture in the UK.
