Exclamation Xylotex 4 Axis stepper driver wanted

    Hi All,
My 4 axis Zylotex stepper driver board has let out the magic smoke due to me accidentally dropping some fine bare wire onto it while it was powered up.

The manufacturer doesn't make them anymore and can't repair mine, so does anyone have one they don't need any more?
Must have all four drivers in full working order.

    Thanks,
    Davo.

There are plenty of modern drives that are better, and cheaper.

I have installed a different make but, although it's rated at 2 Amps, in practice it shuts down when it gets close to that - even though I have installed a fan blowing on it - so I have to throttle it back.
I can live with it if necessary but would prefer to have another Xylotex because my mounting hardware and wiring is now a rat's nest and I'd like to have it tidy again.

However, I'm open to suggestions for a good, reliable 4 axis stepper 2 Amp (or higher) driver board that doesn't cost an arm and a leg - and works properly.
I tried a set of four individual Chinese drivers before the 4 axis one I'm using now but although they ran the steppers OK they made them get hot due to the 'half current when no motion' not working - I tried everything but couldn't cure that.

A Gecko G540 or Leadshine MX4660 are the only 4 axis drives I'd recommend.

    Or some of these. https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/di...or-dm542t.html

I fried mine a few months back and after looking around I went with the Gecko G540. I am very happy that I did. I ordered a new case off Amazon, but I was able to reuse much of what else that was in my old case. I had it up and running but took it down to add a estop, homing switches, limit switches, and touchplate. So far it was easier than I thought it would be. But the day ain't over yet...

Avoid anything that has a toshiba chip TBxxxx, they all seem to be junk and difficult to set properly.
Your user name suggests a place called Mordialloc, i grew up near to Mordy, great place.

    hey gents,
Bit late here but I was wondering if people recommend going a single 4 driver board vs 4 individuals?

I am looking for the control/driver gear for a router/mill I am building, but I was thinking it wold be easier to replace single drivers than a 4-driver board? I dont really know how often they fail though..

Also has anyone here used the Nighthawk controller at all? Cheers
