Re: Mach 3 tool setter Big-tex version

Are you checking for G91 mode?
Noise shouldn't drive the tool into the table. Noise will make Mach3 think the tool touched the plate before it actually does, and the macro will finish before it even gets to the plate.

G91 can cause the tool to be driven into the table.

I am now Actually... I don't check for G91 I just force it to G90 each time it runs and then rely on each new routine to set the proper mode which has been working fine. Post #311 has what I did to fix it.... and it drove me crazy until I figured it out since it worked right most of the time.

Re: Mach 3 tool setter Big-tex version

I got Big Tex's new script and have a problem with it. I followed the instructions in the video. I the initial setup button works as shown. The zero tool setup button seems to be caught in almost a loop. It never would go back to the work piece, but ends up tripping my limit switch in zed. Any idea why this might be happening?

What you should setup is called Safe Z. It is under General Config. No script needed.

    LeeWay, Thanks for the reply.
I did change the Safe Z with no change. Maybe the setting are not what they should be. I'm on machine coordinates.
I can change the tool and have it register it's “Z” hight. It then goes back to the tool change position. If I press Cycle Start the software Mach3 closes. If I press Tool setup button it starts the cycle all over again, but looses it location in “Z” I believe, because it trips the “Z” limit switch. I have my soft limits setup.
    Any idea?

What version of Mach3 are you using? If you're using 3.43.022, there's a bug in it that can cause mach3 to lock up during tool changes.

Well Ger 21 you're right, that's the version I'm running. So I need to find an older version? If so can you direct me, I would appreciate it.

No, you can use a newer version. Try 3.43.057 or 3.43.062 from the FTP site, in the Mach folder.

Re: Mach 3 tool setter Big-tex version

I have just installed the Big-Tex blue probe screen and I use a Metric machine that has X = 1100mm Y=650mm Z=150mm with a feed rate of 5000 for X & Y and 3000 for Z. The auto tool change works well except for the DRO displays down at the bottom. With +1050.0000 entered the DRO display cuts off part of the numbers (it displays 50.0000) as though the figure is too big for the DRO display. The positions entered are correct and the machine goes to where it is supposed to. For an imperial machine you would not use as large a number as a metric machine so maybe the DRO window is too small.
The other problem I have is that the -x +x -y +y and centre don't appear to work properly. When started the probe feed rate is very slow (around 3.6 units/min) but the touch off does work. I suspect that these macros are in imperial and not metric.

Any ideas on how to overcom thes little problems?

Re: Mach 3 tool setter Big-tex version

    Hello guyz,

I also have found aproblem in script using mach blue.
I have modified the speed by which probe moves, but when changing the distance to move out, 3 is the valude deifned, and it states 3 inches in each direction.
Well, on metric system, its 3 mm, and if there is a gap between probe and edge of the hole is over 3 mm, the probe retracts and measurement is faulty.
I have changed script and then proble stalls on left wall, not moving back to other side of the hole.
    Any help there?

    Marko,
I ended up going for the 2010 Screen Set. It does take some getting used to but it is great.
It is not as cluttered and everything works once it is all set up and the instructions are very good.
