    Luv those little bits..

I figured i would make up some Mom's day gifts while I read my AutoCad for Dummies book.
These bits are really nice. They are so small but zip right along.
The bit in the pic is a .0313 fishtail from PreciseCut. I was afraid my router was going to snap it like a dry twig, but it worked great on this piece of Walnut.
Attached are two dxf's for this frame I'm making in case someone wants it.
The first was generated by DeskEngrave
and the second is AutoCad compatable.

Well the DXF's are two big...I'll try and zip em

The picture frame was actually a webding. They are all over the net, free of course. Use Deskengrave to open them and change the size then save as a dxf. I use coreldraw to get them to a AutoCad readable file just by opening them and resaving them as a DWG. Once in AutoCad you can change it and add layers to cut out the inside. Then I send it to SheetCam to get the cut file. Search Google for Darrens frames, true type fonts.
There are alot of different ways to get a output file to the machine...this way works for me.
Let me know if I can help in anyway.

    Hey CrFultz,

Great job! The pictures also look great. I have also found those small bits at harborfreighttools.com You can get a set of like 10 for $5 bucks. Many are drills but there are some really nice reground carbide type endmills.

I like the system on getting in the file to the machine. I have also found you can import the picture into your favorite CAD program and just trace it out yourself. Of course your way is quicker. I will have to check out those fonts. Now I have something else to make, thanks for sharing your work!

Can you tell me what machine your using...mostly that spindle setup.

I'm afraid these ideals came from the Zone...not really sure who but the thread is here somewhere. Search webdings for proper credit. I will post the zip files for the fonts as soon has I figure out where to put them.....

how often do you use Corel Draw. I was thinking of getting it to use for making custom signs with graphics and stuff. I have Bobcad 17 and that thing is useless when it comes to nice text and graphics. I have used Corel before when i worked in a sign shop but i was wondering if you use it at all for your aplications. I was thinking i could create it in Corel. Than vectorize it. Save as a DXF file and open it in Bobcad to create the g-code. Than move it to Mach2 to cut it out. what do you think.

Here is the link for the carbide reground endmills. Check to see if you have a harbor freight nearby too.

I think that would work as well.
Deskengrave will output the dxf and BobCad will take it..I tried a BobCad demo but I can't seem to get away from AutoCad...it's more familer to me. But, CorelDraw will allow for editing of the file before cam so that would have a advantage in some pictures or dxf's.
Before the cnc thing I rarely used Corel...but it talks nice to AutoCad which is my mainstay. I'm new to all this but everytime i get a chance to work at it I learn some more. I'm still working on the layers thing from AutoCad to SheetCam...

I am new to the Zone - my navigation skills are not very developed yet, so I look at the easy targets - your post popped out!

    Thanks!
