    ArtCam Feature????

I've never used ArtCam Pro, but a freind of mine purchased it for his shop. He wasn't able to answer my question so I'll ask the guru's of this site.

If I use ArtCam to create a mold, and i tell it the dimensions of my block of material. And after I create the file i want to machine into a mold. Can ArtCam tell me how much void or material i've removed. Allowing me know exactly how much material a vender will use to fill this mold?

I've worked all the bugs out of this adventure except the exact amount of material of the void. I guess i could machine one, and then pour water into the mold and calculate that. But I thought that Artcam might have that feature or information.

And if ArtCam doesn't have this feature to figure this out. Is there any other software out that that does?

There is a volume function. I have seen it used in the training video. I think it is under the "relief" tab. I can confirm that later.

I wonder if thats the amount removed or the amount that is left after machined?

if I understand it right, you can select the relief that you wish to know the volume of. There is also a lot of help with that stuff on the ARTCAM forum site.

    Volume calculations in VS3D

VS3D can report the volume of a sculpted relief surface (mold).
And it can do it from the original surface, or after the machining passes. So you can see how much material the mold holds, as well as how much material remains to be cut. The "Help / Surface Statistics..." menu in VS3D is where the volume report can be generated.

i have seen it in a g-code from someone do a circle by toolpath on inside it make a long g-code, instead of a short line telling it from start to curve I and then end.

Instead it moved x and y all around the curve.

It probably has to do with the post processor converting circles into short straight segments.
