    Sanyo denki encoder

I have a servo with a sanyo denki encoder, 15 years old.
I had this working at one time and I remember it needed a couple 1000 ohm resistors in the scheme. Unfortunately I no longer remember the wiring. Can someone help.
    Thanx,
    Ozzie

Can you identify any of the wires? The resistors were probabally pull up from A & B to 5+vdc.
If it was a couple, then most likely a single ended encoder, 4 wires or 5 max if marker also?

    Yes thanks Al,
All wires are identifiable. Only used 4 last time -, +5, A,B.
So you think from +5 to A through resistor
    Same for B ???

I am just guessing, but if there are only A & B output, (not differential) then the odds are it is open collector and this was the reason for the pull-ups.
    If so then 1k on each A & B to 5vdc.
This was often a common arrangement on the smaller S.D. motors.

I don't have them right here in front of me, but there are other wires. I know one says C.
But I've used them with Mach 3, and Gecko drives, using A and B. They're nema 34, about 600 W.

C could be the the marker pulse, as in A B & C?
You can always try them without the pull-up if the transition voltage does not go from 0 to 5v on the A & B, then use a pull-up resistor.

Thanks again Al, all together and working.
