    Z axis problem

I'm running a Super X4 with Mach3 for about one year now, just 2D cuts.
Recently the same problem is happening: when the Z axis is changing position, and it goes to the z safe axis clearance gap, the step motor makes a noise as if it was moving but not, so when the spindle plunges again, it breaks the tool, because the Gcode says +5 and it's -5 in reality, for example.
I tried on manual mode and I realized that when I attempt to move up the nose too quickly, it does the same noise and never move again. It seems like the motor is too weak for the weight...Thanks in advance.Gus

It sounds like your acceleration is to high. If it has been working fine and now isn't then you are not getting enough lubrication or you z axis gib is dragging. The squeal you are hearing is the motor trying to move but does not have enough torque to accelerate to requested speed so it is stalled.

Thanks for the reply. You are right about the torque, that's what happening but not poor lubrication, I always clean and lube the rails.
Do you know how to slow down the upward z axis movement?
    TIA

You go into Mach3 motor tuning and reduce the accelration and or the velocity. I think the main setting you need to change is the acceleration or velocity. I would suggest that you cut it by 50% to test. Make sure you save the changes between each axis modification.

I've tried today and it seems the problem was solved, at least for today.
Thanks a lot for your time.
