Inverting axis in table setup makes no difference?

I'm setting up my new cnc machine. Motors, settings and controls work well, except my X axis travels the wrong direction. I tried inverting the axis in the table setup screen, have tried that setting as both false and true. I've clicked "apply", closed out the window with the "ok" button, stopped and restarted Kcam, all to no avail. I can't get the axis to read/move in the opposite direction.

    Any suggestions?

Well, here I am answering my own post, sort-of.

I did get it to work by inverting the direction signal in the PORT setup, so it now works. However, this doesn't make sense to me, so if anyone can elaborate why inverting the axis in the table setup has no effect, I'd be greatful. I get why the direction signal inversion would send the table in the opposite direction, but this seems like a kludgie workaround.

    Thoughts?
