Re: AlphaCam V5 post for Mach 3

    Hi,
I could write one for you if you like as I've written quite a few post for our machines in V5 but never for a Mach machine so I'll need an example program with all the relevant code (i.e. cycles, program start/stop, tool calls, movements G0, G1, G2 etc).

    Regards,
    Frank

Re: Alphacam V5 post for Mach 3

    G'Day Mike,
Could you run the attached nc program file Temp.txt (AlphaEDIT opens .txt files) and let me know how it runs on your m/c and what changes need to be made to the post processor.
Import attached .dxf into Alphacam to view material size. All geometries are cut so material possibly needs to be larger (depends on how you hold it).
1st tool 1/8 flat slot drill,
2nd tool 1/8 ballnose needs to have tool radius in tool offset 12 as it uses cutter comp,
max depth of tools is Z-0.15625

    Regards,
    Frank.

    Hello Frank + Mike,
i'v try the program, but Mach has a problem with the beginning rulers (rem)
When i remove this rulers, the program runs almost to the end, the rule G91 G28 X0 Y0 (machine zero point),gives a problem, he keeps running.
It looks that it works well.

    What next?
    Thank you,
    Pierke

Re: AlphaCam V5 Post for Mach3

    Hi Mike & Pierke,
I've attached two basic post processors for the Mach3 controller, one Imperial (Inch) & one Metric, They work fine with all the tool paths I've tried with them in AlphaCam.

Just open them up in AlphaEDIT and then File>Save As Post>Mill or Router.

I've got the post to place an M0 m/c stop at the end of each tool for manual tool change in the router but I've left the M6 auto tool change in the post as I noticed that a tool change request can be set to be ignored in the Mach3 controller (in Configure>Logic) then M6 has no effect.

Don't hesitate to contact me if any changes need to be made or if you need a more advanced post with extra options like User Cycles etc.

    Regards,
    Frank.

    Hello Frank a.o.,
i dident yet try this program (nex week)

I've use the postprocessor for engraving the Micky with some changes.
When the machine ends the programma, the machine runs with G00 to X0 Y0 Z0,
buth the problem for me was that my machine has no homeswitchs. So i delete the last 2 rules
    and everything is OK.
For the next month, i try other workpieces to test (and Learn) Alphacam.
    Thanks Frank, you're verry helpfull.

    Post Update

    Hi All,

My Apologies there was a typing error in the Metric posts, fixed now.

Added choice by User of different Reference Home options of either
    G91 G28, G91 G28.1, G0 G53 or just G00 (for Pierke's machine without limit switches).
Read the Edit History at top of Post.

    Regards,
    Frank.

    Hi Mike,

Here are the files i'd like you to check. you should be able to just remove the .txt file extension and leave the original file extension.

    Regards,
    Frank.

Re: AlphaCam V5 post for Mach 3

    Hello Franck.
first i very apreciate your help.
my question is : i am trying for months to figure out a way to machine elements in my horizontal machine with a disk (it is a stone machine that i have built for stone elements like sculptures, bassins, fountains etc...)
i have tryed everything but with no results until now. i am using Alphacam and mach 3. the only way that i could find is to reverse between the "Y" and "Z" axis in the Gcode program. but i know that it is not a solution for ever.
if someone had the same issue and fixed it i will realy apreciate to know it.
    thank's

    Hi Michel,
From your question I'm assuming you are machining in the G18 (X,Z) Plane, The Post you are using is more than likely only for the G17 (X,Y) Plane which is the default for standard 3-Axis machines and the default drawing Plane in Alphacam.
The Post can be easily altered to output code for the G17, G18 and G19 Planes. I'll send PM with info where to send the Post you are using

    Regards,
    Frank.
