Tombstone move to home gives weird result

    Hi,

Anyone know how to avoid the following problem?

When machining several tapped holes in a tombstone layout i have to return to tool change position before indexing the tombstone.

This works fine most of the time but when using a Tap instead of a drill the toolpath drawn in edgecam starts at the center of the tombstone instead of moving straight away from the hole it just tapped.

Why is this and what do i do to avoid it?

    Hi Mikel,

I wouldn't 'move to toolchange' if you don't intend to actually toolchange. Use a rapid move to say z+200 for example, between each index.

    See if this helps?

Nope, tried to use rapid to Z+400 as you sugested. And it still starts that move from the center of the tombstone instead of its current position.

the whole thing is very strange to me, because as said in previous post, if i change to a drill instead of a tap the rapid in Z gives the desired result.

I change nothing else, just tap to drill and it works
so maybe i should just give in and use a drill cycle and manually calculate the feed.

I found a workaround to the problem that is equally weird.

I choose translate machining and choose "Move to toolchange" from the previous working position.

Will try it on the machine eventually to, I might be fooling myself
