    Impeller Design

Does anyone have any impeller, compressor wheel, or blisk part files? Im looking for some to test out making tool paths in CAM.

I was trying to create my own impeller in solidworks and I was having a difficult time doing so. Does anyone have any tips or ways to create these in SW easily?

Here is an Impeller. The Blade Geo. is not calculated, as I used this for a visual aid for a customer.

Let me know how the machining comes out

Awesome, thanks. I'll post a pic if it gets machined.

What kind of impeller are you wanting? Have a look at Post #15 in this thread for an impeller I made just for fun.

The data for designing it are given in Post #72 in this thread.

I got into something of a "discussion" in the 'Cam for a Haas' thread. This was when I was much younger and far more irascible than I am now; however I would not change any of the posts I made then.

I'm looking for impeller part files to practice creating 5-axis tool paths. So parts like what Toby uploaded or the picture below are perfect for this. The more challenging the better.

    Hey Geof,

The Impeller I gave him is the one on my website.

Fun Fun.. if you need another, I've got a couple here someplace....

What CAM are you using to do the tool paths?

Is it possible to do a good job machining these sort of shapes with 3 axis ? I was thinking of a diy turbine compressor (axial).

JFG, I'm using Esprit by DP Technology. If you have a solid file of one, I'd like to take a look at it.

Fireman11, Im not quiet sure what kind of a turbine you are thinking of. Depends on the geometry of the turbine. You could probably do a simple one if the blades dont overlap eachother and use a fixture to flip it and machine both sides. If they do overlap, then you wont be able to do it with 3.
