If you are just as stubborn as me you didn't retrofit your Emco, because you like the machine for what it is: a charming little CNC with obsolete electronics, obsolete software and high quality hardware.

So if you kept your machine in its original state I am sure you will appreciate this program.
Mikes Free Interface is a free G-code editor that supports both Emco F1CNC mill and Compatc 5CNC lathe.

MFI is more then just an editor, because its interpreter does logic program flow. This way MFI knows the tool position in every line and will let you know when you try to program impossible moves. Therefor it will also renumber all jumps and subs when you insert or delete lines. It will show you where your tool is and the angle between straights and of partial arcs. It will then transfer your program to the machine.

The drawing function will show the tool path as you enter each line. When programming in F1CNC mode, the drawing draws the width of the tool path defined by M06 lines.

Programming of partial arcs can be very frustrating on the Emco controller because you must provide the center coordinates in a M99 code. Using MFI just enter the radius you want in a new M99R code.

Mikes Free Interface has been translated to German by Lukacs Sudar and to French by Gérard Manel. It already ran in English and Dutch. And now members of the Spanish CNCzone of this group are working on the Spanish translation

MFI is freeware, please download it from www.mikesfreeinterface.com
