    SH403 MSG-501

Hello and thanks in advance. Just took possession of two, Mori SH-403’s. Both have the MSG-501 control. We also have five, Partner M300s. On the M300s M6 will send spindle to tool change position. On other builders I have created a macro to do this as it ads on loading tools thru the spindle, and then assigned it to an M code. Does anyone know if there is something that can “be changed or turned on” to have M6 send the spindle to tool change on the SH's?

Also, the control says I have 130,000 bytes of free space, but I cannot load a core roughing program of 110,000 bytes. On our NL’s, I have used DNC Tape mode to run a large program off the memory card. I did try the same thing on the SH but no luck. Does anyone have any ideas that may help. Once again, thank you very much.

All you need to do is set the macro parameter for M6 call to one of the 8000 programs, and write your macro to do what you want and your done. BTW it was common for people to use a M106 to do this, you can try and see if it's set up that way. M160 was common for the pallet change. The MSG-501 is a 18IMC control usually.

Thank you very much. I thought Fanuc macros were the 9000 series programs. M106 pretty standard for Fanuc tool change macros, cool, on the Okuma, G116 was the code used for the tool change macro.

Mori machines (as well as most fanuc based machines) use 8000 and 9000 series subprograms for macro and subprogram callouts depending on the parameter you register the program to. Typically, an M6 program will be registered into 6071 (program 9001) by making it a 6 (jump into 9001 on m6 command). You can modify 9000 series programs by setting parameter 3202 bit... crap, i forget... but over top of it it says "NE9" to a 1

a lot of times 8000 series programs will be used for probing routines

oh and for the large program... check your parameter manual and see if there is a setting for max program size. Does the machine have a data server installed on it? what is the total number of bytes available on that machine (used and free)?

You can easily upgrade that memory to 250,000 charaters with A service call from fanuc they should be able to do both controlls in a matter of 10 minutes

It's in the back of the ladder print, please give the whole description of the alarm on the screen. Sounds familiar, just don'r have a print here for that machine.
