what are your motor tuning dialog settings at?

So my mill is up and running just fine. Now that I am learning more about the machine, I would like to know what speed you guys run your motors at. I have noticed some lengthy rapid movements... I think when I G00 I am going at 10ipm.

Looking for that happy fast safe setting.

That is like trying to compare the top speed of two cars with different engines. Your max rapid speed will depend on your motors, drivers, power supply, and the quality of the pulse stream your computer produces. For instance I can do 100 IPM with my set up but others can barely do 20 IPM. Let us know what you have for the items I mentioned above and someone might be able to give you a better idea.

Is it a G540 driver or one of his old homemade ones?

it is a G540. I just bought the kit in the last month or so. From what I can tell the components are solid, and the price was right.

I am wondering about the top speed for rapids, and the ramp up and down settings. Do you guys keep the Z a bit softer settings than the X and Y?

    Experiment

My rapids are all the same, I think Z acceleration is lower.
Initially I had problems with the Z vibrating, tightening the two side clamps then adjusting the gib fixed it.
